Obama's legislative 'accomplishments'

I am personally pretty unimpressed with Hill's time in the Senate. She used all her time to cozy up to Republicans, even joining a weekly (daily?) prayer group with fundies. Her bills have been puffy.

The question is, how will Obama's experience contrast with McCain's 25+ years? Where McCain has often taken a stand unpopular with his own party? When Obama was voting "not present" in the Illinois legislature. These are questions Obama supporters need to worry about, if they are serious about taking the White House, not constantly comparing him with Hillary.

Both HC & OB missed the waterboarding vote last week yet McCain flew back to vote for it.

Ya, just watch this unfold. I'm looking forward to it. Hillary could have beat McCain, but Obama will crash and burn when the going gets rough.
Yeah right. Hillary would never win a general election, and early polls favor Obama against McCain, but when Hillary is pitted against McCain, McCain is ahead.

Stop making sense already. Didn't you know that the Hillbots don't trust any poll that doesn't have Hillary leading?

Gotta giggle, though, when the Hillbots talk about Obama not being able to stand up to pressure even though he stood up just fine when he worked his way up from way down below to the lead angainst Ms. Inevitable. Hillary, on the other hand, gets nothing but shrill ever since she fell behind.

Many people who criticize Obama for lacking substance are not necessarily "hillbots" but independent voters. If Obama is the candidate, the election in November is against McCain not Hillary. The diffence in their experience and voting records are stark. Obama and his supporters need to prepare to answer these questions.

Sure they do. As McCain needs to prepare to answer on his voting records over the last 25 years in Congress where, you bet your behind on it, there will be scores of contradicting votes. Both in terms of voting one way here and another way there on similar issues or on voting one way in Congress and having a different position on the campaign trail. There's as much a burden to not having a rich voting record as there is to having one.

This is what I'm talking about. Considering that his experience is limited, and what record he has is as the most liberal US Senator, that will be interesting. To beat McCain, Obama will have convince mainstream America that his ideas and vision are what matter most, and despite his voting record he's not too far to the left. I'm going to enjoy this.

The hillbots are pretty transparent and easy to spot on here.

If it is OB vs. JM - my mind is not made up. I, too, will enjoy it.

There is no way Obama is the most liberal senator. Things aren't true just because a conservative thinktank says they are.

Hello, Russ Feingold? No way Obama is anywhere near as liberal as he is.

Sure - but it's also far easier to have a perfect position on the key issues if you didn't have to submit to the will of the electorate. This was the problem I had with all the Nader voters in 2000 - of course he was the perfect progressive candidate, he's never had to answer to voters! In a similar vein, the fact that Obama wasn't in the senate in 2003, means he can have the perfect position on Iraq. Maybe he would have still voted no and maybe the voters would have punished him for it - or maybe, like so many times in the IL legislature he would have voted "not present."

Just out of curiosity, what has Hillary's "legislative accomplishments" been? Stuff that didn't get anywhere doesn't count.

It's a valid question. I'd like to see a good argument about why her legislative accomplishments are superior to Barack's.

I've asked the question several times, but no one has an answer.
