I don't want an ideology outline, I want to know what he does with his ideology.

Theeennnn.... check his voting record? Check it in Illinois? (Not sure what you want that isn't readily available via Google.)

It's about as impressive as Hillary's.

They have similar experience (except Obama hasn't been First Lady) and similarly underwhelming political careers thus far.

I would like to think people vote on candidates because of more than a 'feel good' factor. I am trying to learn more about what he is, what he stands for, what he has achieved in real terms and so far I am not coming up with a big lot of anything very much. Admittedly, my feeling of aprehension about him stemmed initially from the 'hysteria' factor that seems to be going on around him which I find disturbing. However, that's not a good reason to write anyone off, particularly someone who is to all intents and purposes well educated but so far I am drawing a blank. Can anyone point me in the direction of something real I can read that makes backs up his position as a good politician and potential leader?

try barackobama.com. he has recently released his blue print for change. A detailedvision of all the specifics you could ever want. His website also lays out 11 years of his accomplishments for anyone to see.

he's ahead of the game not to worry.

NEW YORK—After suffering defeats in Wisconsin and Hawaii yesterday, Sen. Hillary Clinton came home to a supportive

“It is time to get real, to get real about how we actually win this election and get real about the challenges facing America. It’s time that we moved from good words to good works, from sound bites to sound solutions,” she said.

http://weblogs.baltimoresun.com/news/polit...s_get_real.html

Aren't those fabulous sound bites, Hillary?

The one thing I am absolutely sick of hearing is the constant "...ready to defeat the Republicans" by Hillary. I am so sick & tired of this partisan #######.

ITA

This election feels like the American Idol show. Obama seems empty to me though he is really charismatic and appealing to younger generation.

That's right. He'll beat Hillary because she too mainstream and the Dems and left-wingers want more change, which is what he promises. He's charismatic, he's a good speaker, and he really inspires people, but as time goes by, the majority of people will see that there's no substance there. He reminds me of a big puffy bag of chips - it looks big and the bag is really stylish, but there's not much inside.

I personally like Obama and I base my opinion on reading his first book when I was in graduate school. However, what I highlighted above could apply to many candidates present and past.

Hitler?

Churchill?

JFK and RFK?

I find that my students who are eligible to vote in this election are fairly evenly split between McCain and Obama and their reasons seem to me to be based on education and research of the candidates, not just "oh he'll sounds great" or other empty ideas. I am pleased, though a bit surprised, at how very political my 18 year olds are, tbh.

If Obama can't get the vast majority of the youth vote, he's in trouble already.

He *is* getting the vast majority of the youth vote. However, it's not like young voters are all idiots. Some of them might be thinking, and making choices based on their opinions and values. Some of them might feel more in-line with McCain.

Yeah, I was really surprised at the number of students who are solidly behind McCain, mostly because Seattle is a pretty liberal area. But these kids are reading, watching debates, most of them attended the caucus and voted in yesterday's (non-binding!) primary. I do not recall most of my peers being as involved, but I guess the 92 election was the first one we were eligible to vote in. And we graduated in 89.

Now, the David Duke-Edwin Edwards governor's election.....HAHAHAHAHAHA

On several occasions I've been startled to hear long-time Democrats saying they'll vote for McCain. This is already getting weird, and should be fun!

Maybe he is, I don't know. But you have to ask yourself, how bad can he really be?

Worse than GWB? I doubt it. If there's a small chance he's NOT empty, I'd rather

take that chance than support the status quo, as represented by Clinton/McCain.

She won the youth vote in MA & Ca - quite a few good schools in both states...Harvard? Stanford?

No one said those who choose Hillary aren't thinking either. We just weren't talking about Hillary at that moment. (It took me awhile to figure out what you were getting at though.)

You mean I have to read his book to 'get him'?

Was it ghost written?

I guess I am just used to a system where leaders go through the ranks of having to be members of parliament, then cabinet ministers before they are even considered leader material. *shakes head*

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .
