Hillary's message to America after 10 defeats in a row - "Get real!"

This election feels like the American Idol show. Obama seems empty to me though he is really charismatic and appealing to younger generation.

Issue wise, McCain, Obama, and Hillary are not that far apart.

McCain is killing himself by supporting an unpopular war, and for a continued deployment of some kind in Iraq. That and our current financial woes work against the Republicans.

Why do you say he's killing himself with this?

The war has dragged on a lot longer and is cost much more than it was promised. There are still people who support it, but most want to get out. The only reason you haven't heard more about it in this election is that the economic issues have taken center stage. McCain has professed not knowing much about economics. If it was the president, he would likely put in place people that would continue the mistakes Bush made. Maybe correct some of them, but we as a nation wont be that much better off.

There is not a lot of divergence on the issues to really focus on them. What it does come down to is popularity and personality.

That's right. He'll beat Hillary because she too mainstream and the Dems and left-wingers want more change, which is what he promises. He's charismatic, he's a good speaker, and he really inspires people, but as time goes by, the majority of people will see that there's no substance there. He reminds me of a big puffy bag of chips - it looks big and the bag is really stylish, but there's not much inside.

there's something about this guy that's drawing people to him. we can't ignore the magnetism in his speech and personality. no one's perfect and he won't be as a president but certainly a refreshing change.

Articles or op-ed pieces?

I know it's fun to brand all the candidates with one or two choice phrases, but really there's nothing more vapid about anything Obama is saying than what Hillary is saying.

Obama: let's keep hopin'

Hillary: we've got to dream, but also take action

Neither of those is concrete in any way. Just because Hillary is painting herself now as the "action" candidate doesn't make that any more substantial or true than Obama being the "hope" candidate. How can you smart people fall for such obvious rhetorical devices?

I would like to think people vote on candidates because of more than a 'feel good' factor. I am trying to learn more about what he is, what he stands for, what he has achieved in real terms and so far I am not coming up with a big lot of anything very much. Admittedly, my feeling of aprehension about him stemmed initially from the 'hysteria' factor that seems to be going on around him which I find disturbing. However, that's not a good reason to write anyone off, particularly someone who is to all intents and purposes well educated but so far I am drawing a blank. Can anyone point me in the direction of something real I can read that makes backs up his position as a good politician and potential leader?

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

Oops, don't go there. Obama is in trouble in the general election if too many people start thinking like you.

Try any web site that will outline his political stances. Just like Hillary. What the heck does she stand for? You wouldn't know it from her speeches.

I'm turned off by the hysteria, too, but I also think that's partially fabricated.
