My fiance interviewed on Feb 6, 2008 in Manila. All the other girls she knows have received their visas. She has (we have now) a wonderful 2 year old filipina/american baby girl from a disastrous previous relationship with a man who made a life's occupation of impregnating Ph girls and then leaving them without support. The Birth Certificate listed as illegitimate and has no father listed.

The embassy asked her to pay 650piso for documentation verification. What is this and should we be anticipating any problems. I personally don't see how we could as she has all legal rights to her child and we have a valid relationship. I have been to the PH three times this year to spend time with her and her family. They are all great and we are very much wanting to start our new life. Can anyone give me any advice on what the delay might be at this time. We are told by the embassy they are still checking documents. Is this because a child is involved? If so very understandable and just a delay because we are on the up and up with everything. We just keep praying each and everyday that our visa will arrive soon. I am sure this is a commonality amongst us all.

Thanks for any advice or words of encouragement you can send our way. Ty and Arceli and Ellen Joyce

I send you this message because I read your post thru here on this site. I just wanted you to know that were having a good situation..I had my interview Feb 8,2008 and until now I dont have my Visa yet... :( ...most of the women I met there during the interview too are in United states now..My situation is that, I also have a Daughter, and she is 2 years old too. She will go with me. I was wondering why it took this long to verify our papers. I am a single mom too. And same case there is no father in her birth certificate. Just really the same situation as your Fiancee..:(... Please include me in your prayers too, that hopefully sooner we can get our Visa...I did text Delbros the other day, asking them if my Visa is on its way, but they said its still under process in the embassy, which quite sad, because most of my batch are already in States now..:(, I ask my Fiancee to call the embassy and ask about the process of our visa, and they said I have to wait 6 weeks. I was just wondering because during my interview I did ask the consul on how long my Visa will arrive and HE said I have to wait 2 weeks, 2 weeks will be the longest time. and here they are now telling me to wait 6 weeks, and thats quite annoying..:(..I dont know if the cause of delay is about my baby. I have all the legal rights to her too, because her father left me when I was just 2 months pregnant to her and I raise her all alone. I am really deppresed about this. Please keep me inform about your situation too....I wish we could talk online one day so we could talk about this...Please let me know any id that will let me contact you..I just really need some encouragement right now too..I just cant help it..my fiancee keep telling me not to worry about it, I try not to, but I cant help it..I badly want to be with him on his birthday, end of this month, but seems like I cant be there... :crying: ...

Im Mercy from Iligan City....and ohhh by the way, from where your Fiancee is?

The Embassy selects certain petitions for document verification. Even though the USEM website states "Please note that if you pay on the day of your interview, there will be a delay of one to two weeks in the processing of your application," they are telling us a 4 to 6 week delay. Read the (Important Notice for Applicants) on this link:

http://manila.usembassy.gov/wwwh3023.html

Sheriff Uling covers document verification under section 4.7 of the Manila Embassy K1 Visa Guide sticky. There are several threads on this forum concerning document verification also. I hope this helps you.

My fiance interviewed on Feb 7. The CO stated "everything is Ok", gave her a pink slip and told her to go pay Delbros. As of today...wala visa.

We paid for the documentation verification and received confirmation from Delbros on Jan 25. Delbros confirmed they did forward the request to the NSO on January 28.

I've telephoned the useless call center, daily . Thier latest reply...

Document verification received and the CO picked up the file on Feb 11 for final review and processing, this can take as little as a couple of days or up to six weeks.

I'd like to add my fiance is 32 years old, never married and no children. So I believe, based on her age, they may want to verify the Cenomar we provided. (which was obtained within 45 days prior to the interview).

Basically waiting on the CO to do his job
