i had pimples and dry skin(face) when I came here. I just didn't use any commercial products instead just washed it with a lot of water(warm). Now, my skin is back to normal. I just moisturize it with olive oil and sugar.

I have suffered from Acne for a long time and just wanted to add a few things:

-Most acne is not associated with food or diet - other than caffeine acting as extra stress - there is no scientific evidence that food or diets affect acne

-face washes, toners and even topical prescription creams cannot cure acne - i was told this by my dermatologist - they can treat it and help keep it under control, but it will come back.

-acne is also not cause by dirt - you can be a very clean person and get acne.

If its bad as I think it is, and she has even tried pills, which I'm assuming were antibiotics she may want to consider Accutane. It is a strong acne medication that works WONDERS. It basically decreases the amount of oil you produce and pushes out all of the impurities in your skin. It is very strong, requires monthly blood work and you absolutely cannot get pregnant while on it and must take birth control with it.

I am taking it right now and couldn't be happier. My skin is actually glowing and I'm annoyed that I wasted my time with anything topical.

80% of people who take Accutane are cured for life. The other 20% do go into remission for many years. In her case, since it does seem stress related - she probably would be in the 80%

There is a lot of really helpful information at www.acne.org

There is a message board with photos of people who have used Accutane and the results are astounding.

Good Luck

oh yeah another thing is water too hot, my dermatologist said it's not good. And I usually take a shower with the water running on my back most of the time, and I like real real hot water. There's not much I can do about it really, cuz our shower was made for midgets, and it's not like I can move to the side and have no water on my skin, it's way too dayum small. But if you can, don't wash your face or body with water too hot, or have the water hot but not on your skin for a long period of time.

I arrived here in US with beautiful ( ), clear and smooth face but after 2 months, I had breakouts and it's worst (my face felt like sand paper). I found out that too much washing of your face with soap can cause acne. I used Proactiv and also, my doctor put me into birth control pills. Surprisingly, the pills help maintain my clear skin and I seldom use the Proactiv. Drinking lots of water will help. And also, instead of washing your face at night to remove your make up or clean your face, use alcohol-free wipes. It doesn't wash away the healthy moisture off your face. When you take a shower with hot water, the first thing you do when you're done is apply moisturizer on your face and lotion on your body while your skin's still hot. It works for me...

I've done that in the past birth control pills and my cousin that has really terrible breakouts does that too. It helps by adjusting your hormones.

i stayed in minnesota for 6 months, and also had break outs..especially, when my husband was introducing me those fastfood stuff... but, ive been trying so hard to find out what works for my acne... and I know that youve already tried proactiv.. and i would suggest to wash your face with water only, no soap, then use the REFINING MASK., and leave it overnight...do this for atleast one week...all the pimples will just dry out... and it really works for me...ive been doing the whole proactiv package...but didnt work..so i stopped using the facial wash, refining lotion etc.etc...im only using REFINING MASK.. and now, fortunately, everything is ok..just maintaining it...

im not eating fruits, i dont drink water a lot, i dont even like taking vitamins, especially vit.E., and i sleep late at night.... and if i have one pimple that is trying to come out..i use REFINING MASK AGAIN< and the next day after, its dry....,..

and of course, getting complete sleep, fruits, vitamins, and proper diet.... (im gonna do it too...soon!)

hope that helps a lil

We're dealing with an issue here, as all women are conscientious about their appearence, my wife is having more than an adjustment issue, she is having a hard time adjusting to this new acne appearence.

I feel really bad for her, and I wish that there was something that I could do. I suffered from severe acne as a teenager, but I grew out of it. Her facial skin appearence was fine when she was in the philippines, but as soon as she got here in Florida, pimples started showing up slowly and increasing over time and now it has gotten severe to the point where she doesn't want to go out in the public and I really feel bad for her. I've tried almost everything from astringents to moisturizers to proactive, and none of them are working. We've even tried internal medicines and nothing appears to work. I've purchased a product called Maxipill from ebay that I'm assuming most filipinas use, has anyone out there experienced the same problem or know someone that has experienced this, any solution, advice or suggestion would be useful, Thanks!

Try proactiv solution,it is VERY good.If not you have to go to the dermatologist and get some Retin-A.This creme will clear up the acne very quickly. If your wife has had a drastic change in her diet, that may be a key factor as well.

I have been there and I know how your wife feels. I'm lucky that I found what works for me. The best thing you can do is take her to a dermatologist. But if she wants to take a chance on birth control pills and stop washing her face with soap, she can try that and see how it works for her.

BTW, I stopped using the entire package of Proactiv and sure enough, I'm having pimples again. So I'm back to my regimen... I have to use the product religiously again...

This may sound crazy but I work with elderly people and they told me to put about a tablespoon of table sugar in my hand then wet it just enough to make it stick to my face and then wash my face with the sugar paste (like it was soap) Rinse with cool water. I thought that they were crazy but I was desperate. AND..... it worked like a charm. I do it now a couple times per week. This is not hard on your skin like chemicals either.

Take it with a grain of salt. Its very easy to hire someone to write testimonials for you.
