President Bush "has done more than any other president" for Africa

Mr. Geldof is an Irish rock and roll singer and longtime social activist who has helped, along with U2 rocker Bono, raise awareness about need in Africa. His most well known achievement is organizing the Live Aid concert in 1985, which raised money for debt relief for poor African countries.

But Mr. Geldof has remained closely engaged with African affairs since then, and he spoke off the cuff to reporters today who were waiting for a press conference with Mr. Bush and Rwandan President Paul Kagame.

Mr. Geldof praised Mr. Bush for his work in delivering billions to fight disease and poverty in Africa, and blasted the U.S. press for ignoring the achievement.

Mr. Bush, said Mr. Geldof, "has done more than any other president so far."

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

I think geldof is nuts! HIPPIE!

I thought he was being cynical.

Not really. This administration has really done a lot for Africa.

Probably coming off the embarrassment of the non-action over Rwanda, and the missteps in Somalia during the 90's.

Absolutely. No other administration has pushed as much abstinence only propaganda - rather than effective and working education and prevention programs - to fight the HIV/AIDS crisis on that continent. No administration has spent more to accomplish less. Awesome job!

The Bush administration was not responsible for either of those events.

Yeah - that is true, unfortunately.

Yes, I know.

The Bush administration has spent over $15 billion on care and treatment for AIDS, and

$1.2 billion to fight malaria in Africa. That's more than any other administration has spent.

Besides, nothing wrong with abstinence - Africa certainly needs it.

Absinence does not equal ignorance.
