I have avoided posting in this thread and I highly doubt I will again, but I am in agreement with Rebecca.

It is selfish to call the RFE line if your case is still being processed in a timely manner. Yes, we all want nothing more than to be with our loved ones again, but not a one of you is more important than another. Is it really more important that you can find out if your petition is on a desk vs someone being able to find out exactly which document they need to send so their case isn't DENIED? Besides everytime you are talking to an officer, you are taking time in which they could be approving a case. That slows it down for EVERYONE that has a case at CSC, not just K1. What's more, it is a major interuption to get a phone call in the middle of your work. The officer is much more likely to make a mistake then. How would you like an RFE for no good reason other than that the officer was distracted by a phone call and didn't see a document you already sent? That adds on an easy 2-4 weeks to any petition.

Leave them alone to do their work. You'll make it faster for everyone. If they need you, they know how to contact you. Your case won't get lost or pushed behind a desk. You will still be processed in the general order your case was received.

If you want to know what's going on, watch the most recent approvals here on VJ and check your online account at USCIS. I didn't even call the mis-information line during processing because it is a waste of their resources to tell me my petition is still pending. I can clearly see that by the website and know I have a while longer to wait when they are still approving petitions sent 1 month earlier.

Brian and Kathey, Your post of your opinion is nicely put and presents your argument well without attacking or insulting anyone. Although our opinions may differ a bit, one of the purposes of discussion forums such as these is for intelligent discourse.

"your case won't get lost or pushed behind a desk" Actually there are many stories on here of folks who have had their petitions lost or misplaced and have even had to go as far as resubmitting their application and going to the back of the line.

I've paid my fees, followed the procedures, I believe it is my right to know where exactly my file and case are in the system. Their generic basic information that is posted on the website is lacking. There is definately a need for more transparency of where your application is in the process. I am a person who believes in being proactive in all my business dealings. this has served me well in life and I am convinced it has saved me much money, time, grief and aggravation in life. So I feel it is my obligation to my family to do everything in my power to use all the tools available to me.

My problem with Rebeccajo was her tone in ascerting her position. She was frankly rude, judgemental and insulting to me personally, without me even addressing her in my initial post. Rebecca you don't know me or my family or what our situation may be, my responsibily is to my family and no one else.

This reminds me of a saying my father always told me. There are basically 3 types of people in this world. 1) Those who wait for things to happen. 2) Those who make things happen. 3) those who say "What happened"

Which group you choose to belong to is up to you.

I've been in this thread for over a week. I have attempted to remain civil. I have been told that my links were questionable; I have had my personal timeline thrown up in my face; it was implied in the start of the thread that I don't know what I'm talking about and didn't have the knowledge to reply.

I don't believe I have been rude. I have been forthright. I have pointed out that using the system for anything other than its intended purpose is a misuse of that. I stand by that.

If it makes you feel better to consider yourself a 'getting it done' person by abusing something that was put in place to benefit a petitioner who has a legitimate question, well as I said before - good for you.

But don't allow yourself to have that thought and make judgments about what I have said in the same paragraphs, because your halo is slipping bigtime.

Of course I had read the previous posts in the thread and had seen there was a sort of flame war going. If you read my original post I was just relaying my experience today. I did not reference any of the discourse between yourself and the previous posters. Then you reply to my post basically insulting me and dragging me into your little war.

I value your right to an opinion as it also allows for me to have a right to my own. It should not be personal.

:innocent: My halo is pretty rusty and bent so not much chance of it slipping off ..

Oh My Goodness!

All this because of one post?

Surely there are much better things to put your energy and time into than turning what was once a nice place to come for help and advice into a verbal warzone.

Today was a little hot, surely. It's up to each of us to exercise discretion regarding what and how we post.

You are 100% right! Now, where's that bunny with the pancake on his head? :)

Put a sock in it, TBone.

I don't believe your story for a minute.

I think if your so bothered by the thread dont read it...no one is forcing you.

You have made your point. You dont like it! Fine...Get off the backs of people who would like to use the approach for whatever there uses are!

If you dont like what this thread is about why do you keep coming back?

By the way...im fed up with EVERYONE'S constant bickering...other VJers are probably afraid to post there experiences with the approach in order to prevent the verbal molestation that is taking place in this forum.

Last post ever on this topic...no offense Tbone but I agree with RJ in that this topic should be closed. Nothing against your method but its quickly spiraling into people just flaming each other (myself included i'll admit).

Yeah the flaming is not really in good spirit of what these boards are all about. I'll refrain from anymore myself.

As far as this thread being closed I get the impression that RJ was and is trying to fan the flames in this post to get the mods to close it. I've seen this tactic used before on other forums. She don't agree with the advice and the easiest way to get her way is to have this post removed because of all the flaming.

I'm sorry, I don't remember anymore....who is this Immigration Officer assigned to USCIS that is recommending the use of the RFE line? Perhaps he/she would like to log onto VJ, and post this information w/ an employee ID# attached to it....since its completely recommended by USCIS and all, we can have it "straight from the horse's mouth" so to speak.

Paula, you're welcome to (shudder) call the RFE line (gasp) to obtain the badge number of Officer Martinez, who was on duty on Wednesday, 24 October 2007. USCIS is so good at releasing information that they should be happy to supply that for you, si man. :)

You are advocating the use of this method and basing its legitimacy on Officer Martinez, while you're dismissing objections as being purely a matter of opinion because it is not coming from USCIS 'directly'

Your statement reads in part:

The method was recommended (without restrictions) by an Immigration Officer assigned to USCIS. Unless anyone here presently works for USCIS in a capacity superior to that of the Immigration Officer, no one here can say that use of the method is "abuse" except as a matter of total personal opinion.

So don't give me a tongue-n-cheek comment, that I can find out myself....you put it out there, "go ahead and call, in fact I was told by Officer Martinez that it's OK to call, so abuse(er...use) the RFE line to your heart's content. And when questioned, all you can come up with is call and find out yourself?!

I think you should verify with Officer Martinez....if its truly OK for every Tom ####### and Harry who's a antsy about their case to call the CSC's 'people on the floor' and shake their NOA2 loose.

There were a couple such, referred to in a post several pages back...

It would be nice indeed if people would return to posting their experiences, like Diana says -- both positive and otherwise. If it results that certain of RJ's suppositions are correct, then the method will die a natural death, thus achieving what appears to be her goal. An honest account of people's experiences is what this thread was intended for.

It would be nice indeed if people would return to posting their experiences, like Diana says -- both positive and otherwise. If it results that certain of RJ's suppositions are correct, then the method will die a natural death, thus achieving what appears to be her goal. An honest account of people's experiences is what this thread was intended for.

This is where I started this afternoon just simply posting my experience. Then I let myself get sucked into the flame party. Well it made a boring friday afternoon at work a little more interesting

Have a great weekend Everyone !! Even you Rebecca
