Correct me if i'm wrong but they went through the bulk of september in about 3 weeks. In theory for every month that goes by CSC moves ahead by one week? Sooooo... if the average sept filer waited 5 months then January Filers will likely wait 4 months. So Dave I'd say you've got at least until April 1st. If I were you I'd wait until April 15th or so before you give it a try, or at least until you start seeing December filers approved.

Even in my position, i'm not going to use it even though i finally got the NOA1 for fear that they may jak up my file.

Love your math!!! Here's to an April approval. It felt good to say at least. I'd be happy with May. :)

And So It Begins......

My Timeline:

15 Sep 2007 Engaged!

25 Jan 2008 Sent I-129F to CSC

28 Jan 2008 I-129F receipted at CSC

29 Jan 2008 NOA1

30 Jan 2008 Touched - filing box here we come....

05 Feb 2008 Hard Copy NOA1 Received in Mail

03 Jun 2008 NOA2

10 Sep 2008 Interview 9:30

16 Jan 2009 Fly back to the USA

I don't have the time to do the research, but I'd be interested to see a plot vs time on approvals if anyone wants to take that on. My hunch is that September took longer than 3 weeks (and not all of them are approved yet, but the majority are), but I don't know. And of course VJ is just a sample of the overall USCIS population. I think it's a pretty representative sample though, so you might be right. OTOH, CSC has this nasty habit of just dropping off-line for weeks at a time. So predicting the future is always tough with them.

Well let Igor verify it statistically, but it definitely appears that CSC processes a month of filers in under one month. Sure there are a few beyond that but its due to their querky filing system. IE september files getting in october containers or on a slow moving desk.

My SO just called me. He did the RFE trick again and he was told that so far we have no RFE and everything seems in order. The lady told him that we should have a decision within next 30 days and that yes our case had been assigned to an officer (she could not say in which division). He asked her why people who had filed at the same time as us or even later had been approved and she reply that it just depended on the speed of the officer who had been assigned the case and whether the officer worked part-time, full time, or overtime.....

Excuse my english which is not as good as some of you ....my first language is french :star:

There is a silver lining. The RFE means your on an adjudicator's desk. Get whatever they're asking for back to them asap, and your case should pick up processing again within a week of sending it back.

Hey, this is off the topic of the thread. People in here are not using this trick to find out about their RFE's, its more of people abusing the USCIS phone line to get a feel good moment. ;)

However you want to slice it, it is a trick, as this route is not "press 1 for case status or to get a touch". This path is for people with legitimate concerns on their case (a real RFE!) and I think TB's encouragement of this practice is very ill advised. I completely understand the frustration of waiting, and some need for reassurance, but this is not a good antidote for such stress.

I'm just embarrassed to look back at my quote and realize I said "your" instead of "you're." Next thing you know I'll be splitting infinitives and yelling at the kids to get off my damn lawn.

Off-topic again. Damn.

Well I must say that my SO used the RFE trick. After waiting 143 days so far I really don't feel bad about it. It actually made me feel a lot better just to know that our file is on someone desk !!!!! Thank you Tbone

OMG that RFE was like murder I cannot believe how painful that might be. It appears that in such a case TBones methods are truly formalized for people in your position. Glad to know someone is here trying to make a difference with the CSC madness. TBone, we owe you a lot!
