Hi,

I am thinking of getting a NEXUS pass, I live in Vancouver area and my sisiter is in Washington state and fiance is in California. I was wondering if anyone had been successfully using this type of pass?

Hi, I use my Nexus pass all the time while waiting for my CR1 to be complete with very little questions. It is wonderful! I am also in the Vancouver area and my husband lives in Washington.

No, info pass is related to USCIS and U.S. immigration. A nexus pass is a process that helps you get through Canadian and U.S. border agents a bit quicker.

Been using nexus at windsor-detroit for almost 2 yrs. Love it. Can't live without it. Drive over every weekend.

Just some information:

I applied on at Wednesday night electronically and was conditionally approved on the following Saturday. My interview is in late May as I would like the ability to use the Nexus pass to fly also, and that has to be done at the airport.

Please keep me posted on your outcome. My husband travels frequently between Toronto and Phoenix to visit me but is reluctant to get a nexus now this his IR-1 is pending.

Hi,

I used my NEXUS pass for the first time yesterday at YVR - Vancouver's airport. It was so neat - I was waved through the big line up as soon as I produced my NEXUS card. Walked to the kiosk, after two attempts my iris scan was completed, I was asked two questions on the screen - the one about being on a farm or around livestock recently and the other if I was over my limit for taking things into the USA. That was it. I walked passed the 100 or so people waiting to speak to the Customs officers handled my blue declaration to an officer in a seperate line designated for NEXUS and went to the scanning area. I never had to answer a single question about where are you going, for how, long, why etc. Even if I only ever use it the one time it was well worth the $50.00 (5 years). For those travelling across the Canadian/US border this is a god send.

Getting my NEXUS pass was the greatest thing! I've never used it at the airport yet, but when I cross Windsor-Detroit...sooo much easier!

Going into the States they ask minimal questions, but coming back into Canada...lol....there have been times when they guy behind the window didn't even say a word...just waved me through!

And there's hardly ever a line up. Maximum cars in the NEXUS lane I saw one time was like 3 or 4, while in the regular lanes there would be 10-12+

To anyone crossing regularly, I DEFINITELY recommend getting one. $50 for 5 yrs is WELL worth it.

$50 for 5 years? I thought it was $100 per year. Anyways, $50 for five isn't bad.

Being in the US and southern US at that, I'm not sure how I'd have an interview with a Canadian border guard while managing a 6-8 week wait for the application to go through.

I'm not so sure about eye scans. Kind of big brother'ish.

I used to have Canpass road for land border crossing into Canada and that was suspended after 9/11. Nice thing about it was that it was free! But Nexus works on both sides and the same pass is good for air, too. I did the interview in Detroit but afterwards you can visit any airport enrollment centre to add the iris scan without an appointment apparently. I just tried a few Saturdays ago but unfortunately their hours posted on the website aren't the same that's posted on the door at Pearson! Grr! I haven't needed the Air yet but I'd like to have it ready for when I do. The land crossing is the best! Own dedicated lane, RFID held up to the reader and the guy says Hi, the light turns green and I'm off! Hour or more backup on the bridge, doesn't matter anymore. Probably saved the $50 in gas not being used waiting in line over the past couple years. Also if you're crossing one of the Niagara bridges, you get the whole Whirlpool bridge to yourself! It's Nexus only! I found it frustrating at Fort Erie on the Peace Bridge or the Ambassador Bridge that the queue would be so long that it'd be on top of the bridge and you couldn't get around to get to the Nexus lane with no line. Doesn't happen on the Whirlpool bridge. I'm generally the only one on it when I cross. Well worth the money! No wait, no 20 questions, no hassle.
