hello everyone,

my packet left NVC for the Guangzhou embassy on 12/27/07. So after almost 2 months of waiting, I called the embassy and they still have not received my case. The rep there informed me that it might take 4 months for the embassy to receive my case. Is this true? The various timelines indicate that it should take around 11 days.

My petition will also expire on 3/1/2008. how will I get it extended?

any help on this matter will be greatly appreciated.

thanks..

NVC to Guangzhou is unique. I've seen cases arrive within six weeks but more commonly two to three months. The Consulate uses the DHL customs warehouse for storage by not "ginning up" the documents needed to clear these packages until they are ready to work them.

Oh, and if you called the number you pay to call in China, that's not the Consulate (the "Embassy" is in Beijing). It's a service they hire in Shanghai. It's best to call the DOS visa information line in DC. Their information is far more up to date.

The Consular officers routinely extend the validity of petitions, so you need do nothing about the "expiration".
