First of all let me say how helpful this website is and how reassuring it feels to read everyone's stories. What would we do without the World Wide Web?

QUESTION: Why is my case search failing when I want to check the status online (https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/caseStatusSearch.do) ? It says "Case Status Retrieval Failed". I have received my I-797C NOA and have the receipt number. Also the automated phone system tells me no such case exists.

I just want to express my sheer joy at receiving the I-797C NOA in the mail. I am a US Citizen who filed for my Indian wife (currently in India). The automated message on the phone indicating that any application sent after June 2007 could take up to 15 weeks to have a receipt sent back literally frightened me... I didn't want to tell my wife... Here are the dates:

  • 1/15/08: Sent I-130 package (by US Postal)
  • 2/14/08: Personal check of $355.00 for I-130 cleared, with receipt # printed on back
  • 2/18/08: Received NOA in mail !!

And the actual filing date on the receipt was 2/12/08, so it took less than a month from sending to being filed!!! My heart tells me this means the process will be quick but my mind tells me this has nothing to do with the rest of the process, so don't get your hopes up!!

Thanks in advance!

hey welcome to this SITE.. this can truly be a life savor.. i filed for my husband in india.. i am a us citizen also.. i am also part of VERMONT service center.. filed the i130 in october and got the NOA1 in january and sent off the i129F after receiving noa1 for i130 in january and also received the noa1 for i129f in january.. now its the waiting time... i saw some vsc approvals for i130 to me it looks as though vsc is approving faster than other service center.. but it just depends on the time. sometimes you can get lucky...

even i canot see my case online for i130 but i am able to see my 129f case online.. some ppl say that u wil only see ur i130 case online when its approved.. thats also a good thing..

-keep in touch...

good luck with ur journey r u filing an 129f????
