February 8 interview

Just want to let everyone know that we have been thru the K1 process and was approved for a visa pick-up that we got last Feb. 12, 2008. My fiance went on leave from work for two reasons: to come here to be with us during the interview and to be with us on our trip to our new home (ain't that very sweet...)

We made two trips to Manila on Jan 21 for medical and Feb 7 for the interview. The skin test made me so nervous after all the reading here in VJ (just so paranoid) but gladly everything went fine, by Jan 24 we headed back for home. My fiance arrived in Manila before me (Feb 6 11pm) coz we took advantage of PAL cheap tickets dtd Feb 7 at 5 am considering that there were four of us who travelled all the way from Cebu. That would be his fifth trip to the Philippines, all of which was to visit me (charrr...). Woke up on Feb 8 at 4 am, got ready by 4:30 am and by 5 am was already in line at the USEM. Line wasn't so bad and was first seated on the second bench (can't imagine how early those who were seated ahead of us). Nicks and I were seated together (her daugher had very lovely eyes). The kids were getting restless due to lack of sleep for two consecutive days already and before long, fell asleep while seated in the bench. The line was quick to move towards entry to the building. I'm just so glad that my fiance came with me coz he gave me the much need assurance and confidence. The prescreener was also very kind even if the kids were not being cooperative (getting edgy). If I'm not mistaken, by 8:30am (not too sure about the time) we we're already facing the consul with the thickest folder (approximately 2.5 to 3 inches) among the to be interviewed by that Consul. The questions were very basic (not in order): 1.) tell me about your fiance 2.) how did you meet 3.) what are his hobbies 4.) does he have kids/ ages. My fiance was not very happy coz the Consul acted as if he wasn't there (mainly I think because he was grilling me, hehe) so that he would butt in now and then to give add ons to my answers. But before we went out of that room, the Consul and my fiance had a friendly short conversation. We even asked for a visa pick up and the Consul approved it of course without assurance (the "it might be in Monday or Tuesday or Wednesday, depending on when it will be available" answer) and we weren't asked about the NSO document verification nor were we asked of supporting letter for the visa pick-up request. By 9 am we were already on our way to Chowking for breakfast. : :whistle::whistle::whistle: Whew! What a relief!!! As my soon to be husbad puts it "We owe it to the forum for all the help and knowledge we were able to have." I love you with all my heart CJ! Thanks so much to VJ, WOF and the now defunct FilipinaWives forum and to all the forumers whom we got the very valuable infos to making our visa journey smooth and worthy. Thanks and God bless us all!!!

Thanks everyone! We've kinda pushed a little bit on schedules coz we we're trying to make it for February 28 which is our anniversary as our wedding date too, hehe... which means lesser dates to remember... I've seen how some people who were not aware of these forums were really behind what's the latest news or how to go about some details in the K1 process. I'm so thankful and glad to be part of VJ! And what better way to show my gratitude than to share our experience too. BTW, guys feel comfortable and assured! The interview process itself is nothing compared to the waiting and being without our partners while processing the K1. Tried and tested on that... That's all for now. God bless us all!!!:dance::wub::dancing:
