Your sister looks so pretty, I am so sorry she has to go through this :( I hope she gets to feel better and that you guys will be able to find a surgeon that will perform the kind of surgery that won't require all that cutting. I also hope she liked at least some of the drinks you bought her yesterday! :P

(exactly on the 90th day mark...applications NOT returned although some scared me into thinking they could have!)

30th july 2007 - N-400 delivered to VSC

11th august 2007 - Delivery Confirmation receipt received

17th september 2007 - Money Order (FINALLY!) cashed

9th november 2007 - NOA! (notification period given 180 days)

21th november 2007 - Biometrics appointment letter

18th december 2007 - Biometrics appointment in Baltimore, MD completed

29th march 2008 - FINALLY received letter with interview date!

8th may 2008 H 8:40 AM - Interview in Baltimore-APPROVED!

8th may 2008 H 3:00 pm (yes same day, crazy!) Oath Ceremony in Baltimore

24th may 2008 - US Passport application mailed off

6th june 2008 - US Passport received in the mail!!!

Amber - You're a chef, so you know a lot more about food prep than any of us. I don't know if there's anyway to 'puree' or liquefy this diet, BUT...

Have you ever heard of the BRAT diet?

Bananas. Rice. Apple Sauce. Toast. B-R-A-T.

Pediatricians sometimes prescribe this regimen for dehydrated toddlers. It's high in vitamins and potassium.

I'm sorry your sister is going through this.

After my c-section recently eating was just weird feeling and I wasn't able to eat a full meal. So I got Carnation instant breakfast in Milk Chocolate flavor and I like it a lot and it's easy for me to have fast. I use more milk than they say to, probably 10-12 ounces for one packet.

Hi Amber, So sorry about your sister.

When I had Stomach Cancer I couldn't eat any solid food at all. I tried to drink Ensure but I found it so sweet and disgusting. Eventually they just put a feeding tube right into my stomach and it had a little cork like thing. My ex would syringe the ensure into the tube until it gurgled and knew I was full.

Try lots of fruit smoothies. You can add protein powder to them and your sis won't even know that its in there. My sister did this with me and finally got me drinking enough that they could take out the tube in my stomach.

Just an update on the situation...

after all the tests her GI dr called on Friday and said that she will have to have the surgery ASAP because it is an vigorous form of achalasia and apparently it is a new type (I think that is what he said). Anyways, my mom was in contact with a doctor at Vanderbilt in Nashville and he returned her email last night (on a SUNDAY NIGHT!!!) and even thought he is booked months in advance he actually worked her in wanted to see her today and do the surgery on Wednesday. Since her GI doctor here said that he would give her the referral but she didn't have the formal one she said she wanted to wait until after her GI appt today. So, next Monday she is supposed to meet with the doctors at the swallowing clinic at Vanderbilt (GI doctors and the surgeon) and then her surgery is tentatively scheduled for March 12 (next Wednesday). Please pray for her for strength because she is very nervous. Thanks again to everyone for your suggestions!

That is a very quick development. But I'm glad to hear that they do have a solution for your sister's medical condition. I will be praying for her to have a successful surgery on March 12. Let us know what time it will be once you find out.

I didnt read all of the suggestions, sorry...

I work in home health and we have a huge population that rely strictly on a liquid diet.. pediasure comes in all sorts of yummy flavors! Fruity and sweet flavors too.. also maybe baby food, so she doesnt get sick of all the sweet flavors that are typically found in liquid nutritional products

Maybe someone already suggested this.

I am so sorry for your sister and her condition. I will keep her in my prayers

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive,and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.
