i was wondering the same exact thing....my husband has 4 names--he wanted to use his third name as his last name here...so what i did was put in his first name, middle name, and last name--then in the box where it says "other names used", i put in his full name with the 4 names....

unfortunately, in the last month at the nvc, i started receiving letters with his last name as his fourth name

haha...it sounds like a big mess...lol...Let me actually write it out...

My husband's name: First Middle Last Fourth

On application:

First Name: First

Middle Name: Middle

Last Name: Last

Other Names Used: First Middle Last Fourth

...for the first 9 months, we received letters under the name First Middle Last--then in the last few months, the NVC [i guess] changed it to First Fourth

::There’s a laugh in my eyes::

There’s a waltz in my walk

And it’s been such a long time

Since there was hope in my talk

If you never knew

What it is that’s new.. it’s you

‘Cause when your hands are in mine

You set a fire that everyone can see

And it’s burning away

Every bad memory

To tell you the truth

If it’s something new.. baby it’s you

It’s you in the morning

It’s you in the night

A beautiful angel came down

To light up my life

The world’s a different place

Where nothing’s too hard to say

And nothing’s too hard to do

Never too much to go through

To tell you the truth

Everything that’s new.. baby it’s you

It’s you in the morning

It’s you in the night

A beautiful angel came down

To light up my life

My life, my life

Ohh

So if I get to grow old (oh if I get to grow old)

With many years behind me (many years behind me)

There’s only one thing I want (aahh)

One thing I need beside me

For all that you are

For everything you do

For all that you’ve done

Just for showing me the truth

We are wondering the same. My fiance uses only his first and second name. Has anyone gotten a social security card or state ID in any other way? Dropping some of the name? Im wondering if it has to be a legal name change such as through a court to be able to do it ON legal papers...BUT....it can be used as he wants for most other things...an AKA. So his legal name may have 4 names....but the one he uses is 2. I know on a credit card u can request it that way..as well as on checks...after all many checks are printed and can be ordered the way you want them from places outside of the bank..and the bank will honor it Im sure. At work on applications just use his name as he wants and in any introductions...but...would they need a court order to change it legally??? Im sure they would. Just wondering...

Mine has 2 names as his first name "hubsterxxx , 2nd name, 3rd name, family name". So he made the first part of "hubsterxxx" be his first name and the 2nd part of "hubsterxxx" be his 2nd name.

Hubster XXX Family name. in the paperwork, we used initials for the other names so it was

Hubster XXX Initial Initial Family Name

I would assume it has to be done whatever way you want it in the US with your paperwork for immigration and that should have to match his passport. My husband has 4 names as well, his name, 2 middle (father/grandfather), and family name (tribe). So his passport has all 4 names, but with immigraiton paperwork we went First name, first middle, and then family name and skipped his grandfather's name. This is the typical way to do it for anyone with 4+ names in the US since you're legally limited to 3.

ETA-- so since you haven't done immigration paperwork and you're not married, the best thing and only option I can see is for him to legally change his name in Egypt. He is not an American citizen so he cannot change his name here-- here has no bearing on him. If that is not an option (laws differ country to country), then there is going to be no way around him using the fourth name as a last as far as I can see (unless he has a family name, in which case of course that is the last and the middle two will drop and he will use the first two and family name-- so for example, if I was Julianna Violet Phoebe Chloe AlJordan, it would become Julianna Violet Aljordan (which is what most of us said our husbands did.)

What do we do?

Here is what we did to be sure everything was as legal as possible:

My husband has 4 names in his passport, since this is the most important piece of ID we decided to use 3 of the 4 names. His birth certificate is also the same as his passport.

Passport name is: Khaled Mohsen Mohamed ******

USA name used: Khaled Mohsen ******

So my name is : Melody Stuart ******

Good luck !

On his passport, my husband has 4 names (he has 6 total). However, on his I-94 it only has his first and last (family) name. Everything from USCIS has only his first and last name. His DL has 4 names like the passport. His SS card only has first and last.

What does it say on his I-94?

Mina's visa was printed first through fourth names.... just as we expected. But, it's ok.... He will have to get used to it. ;)
