green card approved today!!!!!!!!

My history:

J1 visa student since 06/2003, met a beautiful woman...

12/2004 - got married and the process started

01/2005 - applied for AOS

12/2005 - AOS interview (Manchester, NH - everything was OK only background check not completed. They promised to submit my name again. After couple of my phone calls I received a letter stating that they were still working on it.

I have also applied for several work permits. And the fee goes up every year. Unbelievable.

Contacted senator J. Greg and asked for help. Unfortunatelly they can only monitor the case and unless someone makes a mistake, there is nothing they can do.

2/18/08 - background check completed, green card approved, welcoming notice sent and card production ordered!!!

I never received conditional status. Never had a second interview. Nobody asked for any evidence of our relationship.

Thank you everyone here. This forum was and is very helpful.

Does anyone know what to do next?

Do I need to call SSA to change SSN?

wow..you had to wait for a long time to get thro' the background check..congrats on getting your approval.. :thumbs:

Once you get the card in the mail, you can visit any SSA office and apply for new SSN or change work authorization on an existing SSN. Don't forget to update your status at work, DMV and other places...

Looks like you had to wait a LONG time! Wonderful that it's finally happened! And you'll get the 10 year card, not the 2 year one! Yay!

As far as I know the SSN stays the same. Depending on your situation (name change? etc.) you might want to change the card itself. We are planning on getting a new card because my SSC has my maiden name on it but we want it in my married name, and we also want the little thing about not being able to work without authorization removed (if that is possible!)

October 17, 2007 - K1 interview - approved

October 19, 2007 - K1 arrived in mail

October 21, 2007 - US entry

October 23, 2007 - Wedding day

November 27, 2007 - AOS, EAD, AP package sent

December 7, 2007 - Received all 3 NOA's for AOS, AP & EAD

December 10, 2007 - Received letter for biometrics appointment

January 2, 2008 - I-485 transferred to California
