Not sure I understand exactly what you are asking. You mean before marriage, yet, while in the US?

If so, can't help you there. My health insurance through did kick in retroactive to the day we married once we applied.

When Shiela came into the US, I had the same issue. I found a international travel medical insurance website (I'm sure there are several of them if you look around). The insurance was a major-medical policy, and not too expensive.

we only needed the insurance until our marriage, when my company health plan took over. If you only need it for a few weeks, and hopefully just for peace of mind, you should take a look at it.

If this one doesn't suit your needs, you should look around on the internet. There are several options out there.

i had the same problem. i finally gave up and called one of the major insurance companies in germany (ALLIANZ). they offer a plan for expatriats, but that's crazy expensive and you have to buy one year minimum.

but they did some research and found out, that on some of their travel insurance policies they have a 2-month grace period for people moving. so as long as i bought that insurance while i was still in germany, i can be covered for 8 weeks while i actually already live in the US.

so now i pay $38 for 8 weeks, and after that i will HOPEFULLY have a job or jump on eric's insurance.

It was 3 months before I could get my wife on my insurance, and we already had a baby on the way by then!

Have Nick check with his health insurance people. My husband's covered me from the moment I entered the country as a K-1. They seemed to be familiar with the process.
