Hi All

Can you please advise how correct is the expected date of NOA2 approval that is calculated by Visa Journey.

On my case it says March 30.

1 The problem is that i m in software and my compay is planning to send me abroad.I am not sure if i should go or not because if this timeline is correct then i might be soon going to US.Generally, after NOA2,how long does it take to get the visa. Please advise whether i should stay in my home country?

2 Also what is there in packet 3 and 4.Do i have to go to in person to the embassy for these packets

3 Does anyone know how much is the waiting time for the interview if my embassy is in Delhi,India?

4 How long does it take to get the passport back after stampig

Thanks for your help

The NOA2 comes differetly for all of us. Lately there has been aroun 4 months wait time from NOA1 to NOA2. After that the case goes to NVC and from NVC to the consulate in your country. Sometimes it takes a week for the consulate to send you the packet 3 sometimes more. It all deends. It's very hard to advise on that! I think you should stay commited to the visa process but your whole world shouldn't revolve around it. You might go crazy.

It seems that you should be going to the US around 7-8 months since the NOA1 date.

Packet 3 contains documents(again- depending on the consulate): checklist for the documents you need to bring to the interview, notification of readiness- which you need to sign to let the counsulate know that you are ready to interview with them, Affidavit of Support form,DS 156K, and DS 230 PART 1, also sometimes Medical Examination Information sheets.

Packet 4 includes an INVITATION to the interview-with the interview date. Sometimes consulates issue a packet 3 and 4 together. It all depends.

All the info you need is here on visajourney under- EMBASSY INFO (JUST CLICK AND FIND YOUR CONSULATE)

I can't advise you on you going or staying n your home country. That should be your decision.

Hi logitech.

I'm not a pro and I can't answer all of this, but the timelines on VJ are JUST an estimation, I'm afraid. There's really no way of knowing at all how long your case will take, but the estimation VJ puts up is based on how long other people's have taken from your area, so it shows the current trend of processing times.

I think the Embassies are at least a little flexible with you on working out an interview date. They want you to be able to make the one they give you, I think, but if you're not in the country or away on business I think they could reschedule, though this would slow up your case...as far as I know though, there's no rule saying you can't be in another country while trying to immigrate to the US. Would it be possible for you to go abroad for your job, and when you get your interview, just take a day off work and fly home for it?

After you have your visa to enter the US, which you usually get in about a week or two after the interview I think, it's good for six months. So if you need to finish things up at your job abroad or don't want to immigrate right away, that's all okay

And I don't know of anyone ever taking your passport away from you...? Do you mean when they stamp it at the airport when you're coming into the US? They just stamp it there and then and hand it back to you.

Hope this helps.

Summer 2001 - met my Scottish boy

December 18th, 2007 - proposal in Madrid's Botanical Gardens with a duck standing behind him going 'food?'

January 18th, 2008 - I-129F sent to VSC

January 31st, 2008 - received NOA1, issued Jan. 24 :)

February 24th, 2008 - NOA2; omgwtfbbqlolz

February 29th, 2008 - NVC letter sent
