Oh and yes I will be going to the Auckland embassy for my interview Kiwiana. I thought that was the only one you could go to for interview actually but maybe I got the wrong end of the stick there, but even if there are options yes, that is still where I will go (: Just to confirm, what is 'Packet 3'? Is that what I'm working on right now, the letter-thing they sent me when they received the approved petition that lists the first lot of forms etc to send in, and then the second section that you send things in with and prepare all your evidence etc and then sign and send in for an interview date? Haha I thought I was so on to it and organised and I do kind of know the process in my head, but I don't understand the whole package 'x' thing and nothing I have ever received seems to have directly said about that on it? So I don't need any kind of confirmation etc that the first lot of forms etc (DS-230, DS-156/156k, police check etc) got through before booking the medical, as far as you know? It seems that this 'first' section is more to get processing on the way rather than a set order type thing, so I think I will go ahead and try and book it (the medical) pretty soon just in case there IS a wait - and if there isn't I will just book it in the future a bit to make sure things are done first etc. No downsides to doing that? Also, I haven't even looked on here for any info regarding this yet so don't get mad haha I'm sure it's here somewhere but this just popped into my head - what on earth do I even ask for when booking? A full medical including 'x, y, etc' for the K1 visa? I suppose they must get a lot of people through for it since there aren't many options of places to get it done so they must kind of be used to people asking for it I guess.

Yes, you're right the interviews are held in Auckland only (duh! on me lol!!) As far as your income etc goes.. If you are unsure of anything you can always email the embassy in Auckland with any questions too... A number of us have emailed them with different queries etc and have found them to be very helpful (during the K1 process) and they generally will answer your email within 3 days.. Their email addy is AucklandIV@state.gov ( I would think that they still use that same email addy)

Packet 3 should have the medical instructions/forms, list of doctors in nz, police release form etc.. When you book an appointment for the doctor, you could say that it is a medical for K1 visa for US embassy. The doctors would be clued up on it as they have their names down on the list :)

JamieandJamie: Hope all goes well with your RFE. The waiting feels like an eternity during I-129f process.. But once approved.. It seems to zoom along and before you know it,, it is time for the medical, passport photos, forms, interview etc etc.. Won't be long till you are with your fiance :)

Congratulations rubyred!! That must be such a relief to be allowed to just 'be'! I am so happy for you!

I just booked my medical for a week today in Wellington. Apparently the x-ray place (at which I had to make a separate appointment) is just across the road, so hoping it should all go smoothly. We also got our request for an extension approved. I am very excited, I finally feel like we're getting close! I have my first lot of forms all packaged up ready to go - were going to be sent yesterday but I got to the Post Shop too late but they will be sent later today - then it's really only those last few little bits and pieces before I can sign saying I would like an interview date please! I know there's still a bit to do yet but it finally feels like things are starting to come together and I am feeling more positive and excited rather than stressed now (:

Congrats RubyRed and welcome to all the new faces!

We are headed back to NZ for our first family trip since adding a new addition and Nic's removal of conditions! I can't believe it has been so long since I was in the middle of the immigration process. Here is hoping the process of getting Sage's (my sons) New Zealand passport is easier than acquiring residency for my husband.

All I have to say is as stressful as the process is it is so worth the final outcome.

Wow ... I can't imagine how it must feel to have got through the entire process. Congratulations (guess you wont know what to do with all that spare time, haha) I guess it will be like when school exams are over and you keep wondering what's missing.

Same here, haven't been on here for months until I got an email asking me to update my timeline lol.. I'm waiting to apply to remove conditions in July sometime, hope nobody has faced any major obstacles and life is treating you all well! Congrats to rubyred for getting to the end of the immigration road, that must be awesome. Did anyone see that Bret McKenzie from Flight of the Conchords won an Oscar for his Man or Muppet song? Proud Kiwi moment right there! :)

Hey, just been catching up on some recent posts on here. Lots of activity and people completing the long haul. Wow.. great work! Congrats!

Just a question about the Auckland Embassy... I have read in the past that they only require 3 payslips and a letter from the sponsors employer as proof of sufficient income. Is that correct, or do we have to go through the whole back tax thing?

I think this is an NZ specific issue so just querying with NZ members thanks.
