Hi folks, we are doing very well, thank you. :) Glad to hear everything is going good for you all as well.

Russell was unable to find work as a geologist here in Massachusetts but he began working with me (graphic design, websites, hosting, murals, computers.....etc) and we're doing very well. We will be opening our own store in the very near future...(so we can pay off that masters degree education haha). He also started bone carving (I know you kiwis can appreciate that). www.BoneDezine.com is a site he threw together to showcase some of his carvings. He is doing very well selling custom designs here so hopefully we can find a way to use it as a tax write off for our future travels. ;)

In october it will be 2 years we are married and it seems just now that things are finally settling back in. It was a loooong expensive road...but no regrets!

Please do keep in touch. You all are forever a part of our journey! We wish you health and happiness.

Hello everyone :) Another kiwi over here *me* lol but currently living in Oz and filing through Sydney. Hit a slight hiccup after going to the interview this Tuesday, they wouldnt accept my Minstry of Justice criminal background letter and insist on getting the New Zealand Police one which apparently only they can get. So can anyone enlighten me as to how long the NZ Police generally take to do these things? I'm sweating on whether I'm going to be able to leave at the end of the month to make my partners birthday :(

Ta muchly in advance

Carey

  • 2 weeks later...

Hi Carebear,

I can't really recall how long it took, I know that I got the information sheet from them in June and had my interview early July, by which time they'd already got the police cert, so I'd say a couple of weeks. The Auckland Consulate is really good at answering emails and giving you info. If you go to their website there is an email address there, I suggest emailing them directly to ask about timeframe for that.

In other news, got the email today to say that my removing conditions has gone through and my new greencard is in production.

Was all very simple, I was waiting for an RFE as I didn't think I'd sent in enough evidence but didnt' get that or even a request for an interview.

I sent in copies of the first pages of our tax returns, copies of travel itineraries for trips we'd taken since I moved here, copies of mail sent to me at our home address, envelopes sent to both of us (cards etc), and that's it. We don't have joint bank accounts, I'm not on any of the bills or mortgage. All in all I'm pretty pleased it went so well.

Congratulations Emma!!!

Update on my AOS process - had biometrics a month ago, received my EAD card last week, have been relentlessly job searching but to no avail (boy is that hard work! Did anyone else have trouble finding a job?), and we have our AOS interview on October 12. I was hoping that maybe we'd be transferred to CSC because the office is almost 2 hours away but oh well, I wonder what determines whether you have an interview or not? Is there anything specific I should take to support our case?
