Does he need a passport to prove a citizenship?

Well, to prove that he is a U.S citizen, does he need the passport when he has a birth certificate?? Or just birth certificate is fine?

Was he born in the US? If so, his birth certificate is proof.

The IO at my interview didnt ask for my passport. She asked for my drivers license as my ID and then my birth certificate for proof of citizenship.

Birth certificate is fine if born in US. As for me I had to send them copy of my naturalization certificate, passport, and along with my military documents.
