//SORRY! reposting this.. my browser is going haywire...

I will be having my interview on March 3 and we would have wanted to make it together by first week of April or last week of march, since we made plans. I have been trying to look for good deals as early as now but its kinda hard..

For the past few days, ihave been asking around with travel agencies and went to EXPO travel and tours in MOA yesterday, which they have only from Feb 15-17. They have really great deals there, stop and shop for tickets esp for roundtrip tickets... So far the lowest one i had was for continental air which have really great deals esp for first time immigrant visa, good news is including K1 visa.. I had them quote it for a total of $622 inclusive of tax considering its a peak season. The only problem is it's a hotstuff. As of yesterday, the most available ticket left is for Apr 10. after 2 mins, its already fully booked.. next available flight is apr 15.. Just imagine how fast it gets filled considering there's still one more day at the expo today.

If your scheduled travel date will be before March 16, you will get really good rates as low as $650 inclusive of tax already since it's not peak season. The bad news is for peak season, it's really hard to get a booking especially that they are requiring you to give the passport with visa stamp already. That's my ordeal right now.

some questions: IS IT REALLY NECESSARY TO PRESENT THE PASSPORT AND VISA TO BOOK A FLIGHT SO YOU CAN BE WITH YOUR sweetheart earlier? For those who were able to book a flight (not online) without visa at hand yet, what was your experience on this? any help would be appreciated. How did you convince them that you are willing to pay for the flight and take a risk of rebooking in case it gets worse.

I know it's advisable that you get the flight after you get the visa at hand but since it's peak season (mar 16-aug) , it seems like you may have to wait for another month or more for any available flight at highest cost after your visa was released to be with your love.

any thoughts will be much appreciated.

Acel

all i can say is sit tight and relax... as i recall the last time i went back to PI it was regular season (no peak season) I flew in april of 07 and came back the next month... most airlines have promo during that time... i even got a great deal... i would say dont make any travel arrangement until visa is recieved... If you do plan to reserve one before visa is recived buy an open ticket (you can fly anytime you want) w/c is can be convinient but will cost you money... for one way plane ticket peak or non peak season the differnce is about $50-$$150... If you wait to purchase until visa is recieved i suggest to fly during weekdays it is better deal than flying during weekends and holidays... I recommend to fly with our flag carrier. Good luck!
