...I think it's called a work stamp... or whatever... the thing you get so you can work in the US... do they do that at the Minneapolis airport? I've heard they do it at JFK, but it would be much nicer if Glen didn't have to fly via New York when he comes home.

They don't give this stamp at Minneapolis airport. At least I never got it and I've been here for 2 times. So if you want her to work immediately try JFK. She will be able to work before marriage with that stamp

Good luck!

Only for 90 days. As soon as the marriage happens, she will need to apply for AOS, EAD, and AP if she desires to travel before AOS is approved. Not sure everyone understands that small bit of information.

Yes, we are definitely aware of that. We're just curious whether or not Minneapolis Airport gives out this temp work stamp.

JFK is only POE that MAY issue a temp EAD stamp, virtually all other POE have discontinued issuing EAD stamp, and JFK may also at any time.

The stamp is not required to get SSN.

K-1 is not a work visa it is a marriage visa, K-1 is "Work Auth" primarily to be able to get the SSN, some states are strict in their interpretation of a federal law that requires persons applying for a "license" to have SSN, this can cause a problem with marriage license if only one person has SSN and the other (the K-1 holder) does not.

5.5)...Is there any way I can make absolutely, positively sure that my fiance(e) will receive work authorization so that they can go to work and help to pay the bills right away?

A..No.

If work is the priority, then the only visa that guarantees work authorization is the CR-1 or IR-1 Spousal IMMIGRANT visa.
