For those of you who have contacted your state rep or senator, how did you contact them? Was it beneficial? I e-mailed my state representative and senator, but I don't know if they even take e-mails seriously.

I'm too lazy to write a letter (but I will if it works) and I'm over my minutes on my cell phone to call. :(

Just curious..

Thanks! :)

I finally got mine involved on Thursday. A friend of mine from high school is our senior Senator's chief of staff, and he was surprisingly knowledgeable about the entire process. I had a letter drafted, but ended up just calling the office and then emailing him the details. He told me he would call USCIS this coming week and see what the deal was with our K-3 Visa.

I had held off contacting my reps as long as I could, but it has been over 6 months for our I-130 and rapidly approaching 6 months for the I-129F.

We'll see if it does anything. I'm not sure if you were referring to your state representatives who work in Austin, but I doubt that your state reps can do anything as this is a federal problem. You need to contact your federally elected officials. As far as them blowing you off, I think it all depends on your representative. If I were you I'd approach my Congressman about your case, since there are only two Senators for all of Texas, and you're more likely to get better service from the Congressman's staffers.

I'm going to DC in March for some work stuff, and have appointments with both of Alaska's Senators and the one Congressman. As an aside from my work, I'm definitely bringing up how F'd up the entire USCIS process is. But from talking to my friend, it sounds like they already know...

I contacted my congressman to try to get our case moved up at the Montreal Consulate. They tried hard to help us out and it seemed like at some points they did make some progress by getting us an interview a little earlier than expected. Unfortunately we could not accept the earlier interview date due to a conflict.

I sent a letter to his local office and his house on the hill via fed-ex and requested a signature. Sending by fedex meant that whoever accepted it knew that we had record of there acceptance. This might have accelerated the process a little. My sister used to lobby the Texas house of representatives and this was the method that they always used to get quick response from reps.

Probably your best method is to send them a letter. It gives you a chance to give your full story and timeline.

Mark

Thanks! I feel for ya'll. Our I-130 approval took 7 months!! I thought that was outrageous..no RFE's, nothing. Some people were having their I130's approved in less than two months, made me sick! I was happy for them, but ticked off that ours took that long. Anyway, I hope ya'lls is approved like on Monday! Take care, keep in touch. Let me know how it works out for ya.

We wrote a letter to our states senator in regards to our situation and my long wait to getting an interview rescheduled at Montreal. The senator's office replied to us within days and within a week we got notice from the senators office that my interview was rescheduled. It worked well for us. I would recommend that you do write a good old fashion letter to them explaining your situation and timeline. I think it sends a message of being more serious and credible than just firing off a e-mail. Just my opionion though and I do think others have had success with e-mails. Good luck!
