I just bought a 42 in TV from Costco and I'm getting direct TV with an HD DVR. I haven't owned a TV in a couple years so I'm pretty exited.

buying a TV at costco doubles the warranty to 2 years (3 if you buy with Amex) and you get a $200 cash card for getting the TV (>30") and Direct TV. I love costco.

Well, my installation window was 0800 to 1200 PST. 15 minutes to go and they are not here yet. I'll be calling in 14 minutes.

I'm cool on the HDTV but I hope you have better luck with the satellite than my friend. Service is absent almost every time it rains! So when you really want to watch you can't.

We've had nothing but good luck with our Direct TV.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip

congrats! I had Direct for many years (since Primestar) but switched over to Dish network about a year ago because of the international programming packages. Now, the only thing I can see are those famous Brazilian "novellas!

You will like Direct.

We have DishNetwork and when they first installed it the service came and went every time it rained. I called them back and they moved the dish to a different location. Now it is rock solid.

I've had DTV for about 5 years now. Had cable before that. I would never go back to cable, that's for sure! Anyone that's ever dealt with customer service at a cable company (comcast) knows why!

I've rarely ever lost signal (DTV) in the past 5 years, and when I do it's never been longer than about 5 minutes.

A word of caution though. If it snows where you are It might be a good idea to place the dish where you can clean the snow off. This isn't a problem except in the worst of snowstorms, and usually has to be wet snow, but it does happen.

My dish is located not too far from my BR window and I can clean it off with a broomstick. I've only had to do this 3 times in 5 years but it's something to think about.

That's what my friend has. Maybe he needs his dish relocated too!

I heard this from co-workers too. We don't get too much snow (or rain) in SE Washington state thankfully.

I have heard of spraying the dish with PAM, silicone, or WD-40 to help move the snow along. Maybe I'll wax it.
