Today started out ok, but that only lasted till about 5 minutes after I left our parking lot on the way to work. A guy pulled out of a side street and made a left turn right in front of me. I slammed on the brakes, but he was too close; the left front of my Element hit his left rear bumper area as he passed. He pulled over, and I made a u-turn to park behind him. He had very little damage on his car (an Expedition), but mine had lots. The left headlight assembly disintegrated, the left front panel was peeled back against the driver door, the hood won't open, the radiator is leaking, the front firewall appears to be pushed back some, and the driver door doesn't open as easily as it should. The other guy had no license, no insurance, and no registration. I called 911, and the sheriff's dept. arrived quickly. Apparently, the guy bought the car from a friend and just didn't have the registration yet. But since he was driving without a license or insurance, his car was impounded.

This is the first new car I've ever owned; it's not two years old yet, and we still have about $15k to pay on it.:(

A vehicle can be replaced and/or repaired. Thank the God above no one was hurt. Im sorry to hear that this happened.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

That sucks.

Happened to us just over 2 years ago - old car was totalled by an SUV driver who ran a red light. Had literally just finished paying for the car - with depreciation we got barely enough to cover a deposit on a new car.

Glad no one was hurt. Uninsured motorist stink.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."
