I'm sticking with my Polaroid. This digital camera thing is a fad.

It depends on how much money you would like to spend and what kind of pictures you plan on taking with your camera. To me it was important to have a large optical zoom, as the digital one just doesn't bring results I like.

You can find a list of the best cameras and camera brands here Top cameras.

A good site to compare models and reviews is Buying Guide by DP review.

I didn't want anything too flash or expensive, but still a camera that does a bit more than the average $150 camera, so I decided to buy a Panasonic FZ8 and I very happy with it.

Have fun shopping!

I thought I heard on the news the other day that they are stopping making the films for these? You might need to stock up!

I have a Cannon PowerShot D800 IS and I love it! It has video capabilities but I haven't used that function yet so can't say how good it is.

I never use digital zoom, as all it actually does is crop the image and blow it up at a lower resolution. I'd rather have the whole image at the highest possible resolution; if I want a lower resolution for the web or such, or want to crop part of it, I'll do that later in Photoshop but keep the original as well.

Polaroid is getting out of the film business entirely.

On a serious note I bought my wife a Nikon S1 and we are not that happy with it. Our previous Olympus was better but it got wet and stopped working.

We always had the Kodak easyshare cameras and were happy with them. Luz takes a lot of pictures and tends to wear out cameras rather quickly. I tried getting her a new Kodak for Christmas but the pictures were not very clear. Thinking we just got a bad one we returned it for the next model up and found that the pictures were still sub-standard. The person at the camera department told us that Kodak is subbing out the guts to it's cameras now to China. Don't know if that is true but I can say the newest crop of Kodak easyshare cameras suck. I finally get Luz the Cannon Powershot SD1000. Great little camera! She loves it! I would recommend it as a mid-priced camera ($200).

Canon Powershot SD1000 is inexpensive and a good simple point and shoot camera, i really recommend it, i just bought one for my office.

i find Canon P+S to be the most user friendly for everyday pictures

at home, we have a Canon SD500, and a Nikon D80 (DSLR)
