I applied for my AOS and unfortunately had a poor attorntey and my case was deemed as abandonded. So i have to refile, my question is this....

the sicial security number i was provided with originally for work, will i be getting that same number again or will i get a new one? I was finally starting good credit with it etc, thats why i was wondering

Should be the same.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip

SSN is given for life... You have one you do not need to apply for another... You are only required to keep the SSA aprised of changes to your immigration status.

YMMV

It will stay the same.

Once you have your green card, you should to SSA and have them remove the "authorized to work with INS authorization only" on your ssn card.

AOS Approved on 10-17-08 (details in profile)

Removal of Conditions on 07-19-10

In this tedious process, we tend to forget that this is all worth it.

I love my hubby beyond anything in this world.

I have a related, but different question.

My husband was in the US before legally and had an SSN. However, his status changed and he had to return to his home country of Haiti. He left in a timely manner when he no longer was legal and immigration did not, therefore, initiate deportation in his case.

He is now back in the US legally and we're getting ready to file I-485. Will he still be assigned the previous SSN, even though his status had changed? Will he keep the one he has? I'm curious to know.
