What would we do without Visa Journey?

Hi,

It may be a stupid question but I was asking myself, how would we do without VJ? I checked the USCIS website but I can't find any guidelines nor anything about how, for example, a K1 VISA works and what needs to be done, etc. Maybe I didn't check well enough but I don't think anyone can find clear instructions, except the instructions that comes with the different forms but you can imagine how difficult the whole process would be if that's all we had.

My point is that I don't know how my wife and I would have done without this website and we're still in the process and I know I will still need you guys as well as this website. I just find it absolutely unbelievable that the USCIS website doesn't provide these information. But again, maybe I didn't search the website well enough so if you know where to find guidelines etc on USCIS, just let me know, out of curiosity...

I found this website after filing and getting my interview for the K1 and I wish I had found it sooner, because I felt alone in the process. This place is amazing. I don't know what we would do without it.

To be honest, I've yet to really use Visa Journey for the actual visa process. I download the government forms and follow the instructions word for word. I find they are easily understandable. Truly, I'm only here to kill time waiting for my fiancée to arrive! And, of course, share advice when I can! :)

I agree. I found it after the fact.

What I have found helpful since is help with requesting more birth certificates from Jamaica through the NY Jamaican embassy, renewing his Jamaican passport from here, and our upcoming LOC in August 2008 and naturalization next year.

My boss would say I would actually do some WORK here at WORK if I didn't have VJ.

USCIS instructions are good but each case is different and VJ really helps with those odd/out of the ordinary questions. :)

And like Lona says, only VJers understand the pain of going through this.

AOS Approved on 10-17-08 (details in profile)

Removal of Conditions on 07-19-10

In this tedious process, we tend to forget that this is all worth it.

I love my hubby beyond anything in this world.

I did a search for "K-1 visa instruction" or something similar and found VJ. I assumed it was the first of many informative and useful sites, but I can honestly say nothing I've found holds a candle to VJ. Complete, robust, supportive, educational - the adjectives go on and on. It was my main source of information for completing the I-129F package, and will be for AOS here in a few weeks after my fiancee arrives.

I actually made some comment that VJ didn't help me meaning because I was too far in the process by the time I found it. I got ripped on by two VJ'ers. I stuck around anyhow.

Get more work done!!

Seriously though, met some good friends and got AOS nailed down easily and quickly. Prior, we had a useless lawyer before I found this site that almost ruined our K1, but at the time did not know better.

10Yr GC arrived 07/02/09 - Naturalization is next

The drama begins - again!

And now the drama ends - they took the Green card . . .

I used the K1 FAQ here and followed the advice. There were good pointers, such as including a cover sheet itemizing what you are sending, putting pictures and some evidence in zip lock bags and stapling to paper, writing a supplementary to how we met, the declarations of intent to marry for both sides, what sort of evidence I needed.

The site is just perfect for streamlining the process and while you go through each step you see how others are doing as well.

The internet has really made topic specific sites valuable to people willing to look and it also exposes crappy attorneys or people who give awful advice or talk about things they really don't know about.

I got lot of help from VJ, especially its guides and members' experiences which made our process easier. Members like Aussiewench (Lorelle), MaryandMian, and others helped me a lot. Similarly, I try to help VJers who are going through processes as much as I can.

I-130 Timeline with USCIS:

It took 92 days for I-130 to get approved from the filing date

NVC Process of I-130:

It took 78 days to complete the NVC process

Interview Process at The U.S. Embassy

Interview took 223 days from the I-130 filing date. Immigrant Visa was issued right after the interview
