First off, I want to thank everyone that has helped me from VJ. This is a very good site to get some answers and support for a very complicated and difficult process of getting your loved ones over to the U.S.

The guides say to show proof of the relationship. I am just wondering how much proof you guys and gals are sending in with your petitions? Also, what kind of proof other than phone bills, hotel tickets when I got married, ect...

I have a friend of work who did this about a year ago, and I don't think he send anything in at all except for the petitions, birth certificates. I have a ton of receipts for phone cards. I also have about a dozen receipts from Western Union when I have had to send money over to my wife. But that's about it.

thanks,

martinbr

I am the wife of a USC and I was the one who filled up the forms and organize the documents to be sent after we got married. I only attached a photocopy of our marriage certificate and certificate of deposit(joint checking account) from a bank in the Philippines as our proof. My husband brought it in the US with him and sent it last May 31 2007 and it got approved on Oct. 31, 2007. I did not send any emails, hotel receipts or money transfers. But I brought those with me during my interview last Feb 7, 2008. The consul did not ask for it though. They only ask for our pictures together and they are not even our wedding pictures. Just don't forget to sign and date the forms for you and your wife.

I sent in marriage crtificate, 3 notarized affidavits from people who attended our wedding, and a bank letter for our joint account . That was it.

We showed proof of bona fide marriage at the time of my interview like photos of our wedding and pictures together, with family, etc..phone bills, chat logs, emails, greeting cards, receipt of different stuff he sent me and plane tickets..But when we are still processing the petition, we just sent what the NVC asked for us like MC, BC, AOS (affidavit of support), NBI, police cert, biographical copy of my passport..
