Gary, would it be ok to you if you personally could not pay that tax, but, by doing so, one kid would starve to death somewhere in Africa?

Would that be worth 1% of your income?

If that is the case then how can you live with yourself for not giving 50% of your income to save starving kids? If you don't you would be personally responsable for the deaths of 50 children!!

I'll answer this one. I'll let 1000 African kids starve to death before I pay 1% more in taxes.

Don't have kids if you can't feed them.

So you don't believe in, or donate to humanitarian charities?

Of course I do. Voluntary donations, not forced at gunpoint (aka taxpayer funded handouts.)

Fair point.

But I thought the 3rd world existed to serve the needs of the 1st?

I don't understand how the dems can make working people love taxes this much.

Will America have to go broke before Americans realize that big gov't is not that good of an idea?

Gary, in what universe do you live? We are already broke. People are losing their houses because they can't afford to make their payment. Our economy is plunging into what some are saying is a new depression. And your main man W's tax cuts are not doing anything to help it, in fact, some might say they are one of the causes of it...

There's no evidence of that. Tax cuts do not usually hurt the economy, if they are accompanied by

spending cuts. The spiraling federal deficit is the main problem, not the tax cuts.

The economy is still going relatively strong despite the housing slump. Retail sales increased

0.3 percent in January versus a consensus forecast of a 0.3 percent drop.

Not to brag, but $1,600 doesn't sound half-bad compared to what I'm going to have to cough up on April 15

(in excess of the estimated taxes for 2007.) :crying:

i don't see how "mawilson's people" are to blame for another countries gov't not helping their needy. i seriously doubt mawilson was involved in any policy decisions in Africa or anywhere else for that matter. so instead of attacking people w/ a weak azz attempts at a guilt trip...how about you do something to help the worlds poor & give up 50% or so of your income to "do your part" since you've decided to come to "the evil" America & leave the poor of Brazil to fend for themselves?

The Bush tax cuts gave us 6 years of a really great economy. What is happening right now is nothing. Your just buying the hysteria drummed up by the dems. The economy is slowing down but we are far from a "new depression". We need more tax cuts not new taxes.

it's easier to b!tch about something than expend some effort fixing it.

kinda like how many wives does it take to change a light bulb?

none, they'd rather sit in the dark and b!tch about it.
