This is amusing. Here's some (more) facts for you spark.

----

48%

The percentage of the Hispanic-origin population that lives in California or Texas. California is home to 13.1 million Hispanics, and Texas is home to 8.4 million.

15

The number of states with at least a half million Hispanic residents. They are Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Massachusetts, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Texas and Washington.

4.7 million

The Hispanic population of Los Angeles County, California—the largest of any county in the nation.

What's the relevance of any of these figure in regards to the showing of Clinton in NM?

By the way, Mr. Big Dog who said that the 14/12 split was wrong: no, YOU'RE wrong. It's indeed 14/12. It was 13/12 until yesterday. When the final count was announced, the last delegate was given to Clinton, making the total 14/12.

Fair enough. I'll make sure to consult my crystal ball next time I post. At the time I looked it up, the count was 13-12. They just published that without telling me that this would change hours later.

:secret: The 10 day long debate (& count) was over that final delegate. ;)

The bottom line is this. Regardless of the exact numbers Hillary was counting on the Hispanic vote to bolster her run. The fact that she just split NM does not bode well for her. If that ratio holds true in CA then the best she can hope for is a split there. Since Obama is ahead on the delegate count that means she will need to depend on the superdelegates or finding a way to seat the FL and MI delegates to win. That would not be good.

Cali is over?

She carried the Latino vote there rather soundly.

Also carried them in NM:

Sorry, I mis-typed. I meant Texas. Where I might add she is way behind in the polls.

Well, she lost some of the white vote to him, yes. But she still carried the Latino vote.

OMG! this is so stupid!! why is it that the Latino voter want to segregate themselves? All for the almighty..."look how many Latinos there are in this and that State" speech. What difference does that make to the outcome of the rest of the US? NOTHING!!! Its a backwards mentality that the real MAJORITY wants them to have. As long as they (Latinos) continue to segregate their political power they can NEVER EVER be in with the majority!! So what happens to the Black-Latino? Are they supposed to vote for Hillary or Obama? What if they are Black Latino and truly conservative...do they go to McCain? How STUPID is it to base your vote of the color of your skin, or the 'latin" (whatever that means) heritage you possess?! Hillary Clinton is just like each and every other president we have had before. Rousing the "latino" population and making them sgregated from the populous of the American society....all for the almighty vote? it the same thing McCain does by sayin that he wants to appeal to the "consevative" cause they share the same values as he does. Replace the word conservative...with Latino...what do you get...the same ole BS that has been fed to the country from day one.

This is why I love Barack Obama, his campaigns are about THE PEOPLE......not the conservative....or Latino....or Black....or even the Democrat....its about the PEOPLE. He pulls in such a diverse supporting crowd and thats such a beautiful thing. He doesnt place one race against another....all for the vote...he puts the PEOPLE first for the betterment of the ENTIRE country...Latino, Black, White, Male, Female, Rich, Poor, Democrat, or Republican.

Come on!!! wake up people and QUIT being the pawns in the old world political chess game!!

What is the significance of Hillary's small margin of victory in this particular state on Super Tuesday? You still haven't gotten to that point. I am waiting.

What is the TOPIC!

Don't worry. Your post was very spot-on and appreciated by those who respect such things.

The "Topic" is "agree with little d or she'll have this topic closed" just like all of the other ones.

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.

I've lived in NM for 25 years and I don't think this result is particularly significant. We've always been a divided state, Dems vs Reps. The ABQ metro area tends to go Rep, the ranching areas tend to go Rep, Santa Fe and the heavily hispanic rural areas tend to go Dem. The fact the the Dem vote was split between Clinton and Obama doesn't surprize me at, not as much as the number of Dems who have been saying they'll vote for McCain!
