ANKOF- stop picking on the Canadians, you meanie

Don't worry- his Fiancee will unleash her Canadian rage on him when she gets to the U.S.

Timbit anyone?

I'm sorry, but that looks disgusting. I'm not trying to put down Tim Hortons specifically, but I wouldn't eat something like that at Dunkin' Donuts or Krispy Kreme either. It's just gross.

After working for the grand ole TH, I fail to see the greatness in it. Other than being universally recognizable when walking down the street, and smelling like a walking pot of coffee. *tongue in cheek* I much prefer the taste of starbucks to tims.

Charbucks is overpriced drek. If I want drek in a cup, I'm not gonna pay $4 for it :P Although, the frozen drinks at Charbucks are tastier than the frozen drinks at Tim's, I much prefer Tim's for hot coffee and donuts. Tim's donuts also have less trans-fats in them than most other brands, other than I think Country Time (another Canadian donut shop chain).

Strange fact, when they were bought up by Wendy's corp about 15 or so years ago, the portions got smaller and the prices went up. No idea what happened when Wendy's sold them off last year though, I haven't been home to see :(

divorced - April 2010 moved back to Ontario May 2010 and surrendered green card

My Canadian fiance prefers Starbucks over Tim Hortons. He'll only resort to Tim's if there's no Starbucks nearby :P .

The thing I noticed is that if you get anything other than plain coffee the Tim's is waaayyy more sugared up. Their foofoo coffees (mochas, lattes & such) don't seem to have any coffee in them at all. It's undetectable. They taste like hot chocolate. Now their hot chocolate is yummmmm!! I always buy a can to bring home. My son got hooked on it when he visited last year.

OMG I totally agree. I had to try the French Vanilla Cappucino because all my husband's relatives were obsessed with it so I had to see what the deal was. I nearly gagged! It was just sweet...bleh!

And I have learned never to order the small coffee. It's like child size and don't get me started on the medium! No wonder they had Extra Large as an option.

Tim Hortons my favorite--In canada that is!! RI has tims and it does not even come close to tasting like it does in Canada! Not sure why not, maybe the water source, or they use a different cream! In 1 location there is a dunkin close by and a starbucks! I usually go with Dunkin! Dunkins XL is like 2 times the size of Tim hortons largest size (XL in Canada = large in USA, no XL size at Tims@!!) and around the same price, and a better coffee. I dont mind starbucks, enjoy their latte's. Each their own.

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

1) Heinz ketchup is the best out there. all the other brands (including Canadian ones SUCK!)

2) Don't drink coffee, but I do like Timmy's soups, they are good, and cheap!

3) The best thing to do at the crazy Canadians who are in line are point and laugh that they could have stayed in bed 15 mins longer but they would rather wait in line for those 15 mins.. (which if you think that they take it 5 days a week -line up would not be as long on weekends, and do it 52 weeks a year would be a total wasted time in line of 65 hours PER YEAR!

4) Sad stat - tim Hortons makes enough money between 7 am - 9am on weekdays that all other money is profit, that two our period covers all the bills!!!

I yelled "Sic Semper Tyrannis" and took off running!

O.K., that was funny (I didn't really do it, but wish I would have now). How come no one has gave me my props? I hate getting ignored in a topic I started! Anyone know what it's a reference to?

I've noticed that and so has my wife.

While I was in Canada, I saw that many of the drink sizes as well as the food portions were dramatically smaller in most places than their American counterparts. Likewise, my wife quickly figured out that in the U.S., drink sizes and food portions are generally much larger than in Canada. Overall, she couldn't believe what we consider "small" or "medium." I just had to laugh. :P

Honestly, I can't help but think that America's obsession with "super-sizing" things has lead to an increase in obesity. This isn't to say that Canada doesn't have an obesity problem too (it does and if you look at the numbers, it's steadily growing as well), but it's still not as high as that of the United States. Considering the close similarity of the two countries in terms of society and culture, I'd have to lay most the blame on eating habits. Those are, however, a person choice -- fast food restaurants and coffee shops aren't holding a gun to our heads and demanding we eat/drink there, while ordering the largest items on the menu.

I have not a clue what you're talking about. But I do have to agree with the others. Tim's frozen drinks are #######. (Have never tasted the hot flavoured coffees, but I imagine they're the same.) Their hot chocolate has too much sugar in it for my taste, but they're really good with an orange shot when I do have them. But only when it's freezing cold and I feel like bouncing off walls.

True- they were way too sweet. I did like the flavor though so I would get 1/2 coffee mixed in with it if I did order one.

I expect more out of VJers. I have thought, up until this point, that we were well educated. I'm going back over to loveofasia.com. I know what to expect out of the mental midgets that post there.
