Processing times are getting longer

Man, this has been a very stressful ordeal trying to get these petitions started for my wife and kid.

Got married back in November. Had some problems with getting the right information on the the kids birth certificate. So I had to wait, wait, wait. Obviously in the Philippines everything is done at a snails pace when trying to get documents processed from the NSO.

Well I finally got that all together, and then the ex-wife hits me for another $1,400.00 per month in spousal support. When I got married again it didn't set well with her at all. Plopped down $3,000.00 in my lawyers lap and he really didn't do anything. So to make a long story short, it's been really hard to get the petition fees together since this price increase that happened back in July.

And now!, I see that the processing times is 425 day from start to finish for a CR-1 petition. What is going on with this. I thought they were supposed to be catching up. Is it going to get worse as each day goes by?

I have all my papers together and the money orders and I am sending them out tomorrow. It's been almost 3 months since I got married and haven't even gotten off the ground floor yet. As it looks now if I send these out tomorrow, it looks like around 14 months from start to finish. Does this sound correct or is my math wrong here?

I hear you... I know it's going to be frustrating - not to mention the financial restraint - but that's how it's going to be. You have to be prepared for this and embrace the worst or it will get to you. CR-1 route can be a long and tedious route but once your wife and kids get there, you can all enjoy life together. Unlike the K1 route that we took, even though it took less than six months for us to get everything done, we had to deal with more paperwork when we got here in US since we had to apply for adjustment of status.

Just remember that for every dark cloud there's a silver lining. It will help too if you will stop assuming a faster processing. That way, you won't get disappointed when the case will take longer to be processed. Believe me, everybody went through all these emotional rollercoasters. They remained strong and successfully made it.

Good luck to you!

Chalk it up as something you can't do much about yet still have to deal with and get through it the best you can.

It will be over and done with sooner then you imagine. Hang in there.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip
