DCF interview 221g denial. Wife miserable. Anything to worry about?

Hi Everyone,

My wife went to her interview at the Stockholm embassy today. All paperwork was in order and they were satified with all of the basic documentation.

After many questions they gave her a denial based on 221g.

On the sheet they wrote that she needed to submit police records from Netherlands and Denmark. Although we provided police reports for all the places she has lived based on the requirements given by the embassy, they still requested these additional Documents. We are assuming that this is due to her ds230 bio-data showing that she has lived and studied in the Netherlands 2 different times for almost a year each time. The Danish police records were likely requested because although she hasn’t really lived there for any extended period of time, it is where her mother lives and where she is staying now unitl this visa is hopefully approved. The CO said he wanted these as a matter of his own discretion. My wife has never done anything wrong and we have no problems with submitting this information.

The CO actually kept her passport stating that he needed it so if approved he could mail it back to her in Denmark if approved. I know our case is a bit unique considering the extensive amount of traveling we do and variousl places we have lived due to our status as Erasmus masters students. I called Danish police and she can pick up a certified police certificate at any police station. I know that Dutch police certificates can only be requested by the consulate in the Netherlands. I called them and actually spoke to the person that handles this. She said that she had the request on the computer in front of her from Stockholm for the certificates for my wife and had already put in the request to the Dutch authorities. She said this process takes no more than 2 weeks. I thought the speed was amazing considering that I spoke to her no more than 45 minuted after my wife left her interview.

Is this anything we should be worried about? Is the fact they kept her passport a good sign, possibly indicating they will provide a fast return after receiving the requested documentation? This is of course very stressful for both of us.

Sounds like everything is under control, so that once they receive the requested documents, they will issue the visa.

I know that has what has happened at the Canadian Consulates!! Sometimes they keep the passport,sometimes they dont! Hopefully its a fast turn around with obtaining those two police reports!!

Hello there! YOU HAVE ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT!!!!!!!! That's a normal thing they request. Actually, EXACTLY THE SAME happened to my fiancé in Venezuela's US consulate. He is cuban but living in Venezuela for the past 15 years. At the time of his interview, he was also given the 221g form, but that is a temporary denial due to pending documents. My fiancé was requested to submit Police Certificates from Cuba, Venezuela and listen to this: CHINA!!!!! because he worked in China for 1 year. I know how you feel but believe me, that doesn't mean your wife will be denied the visa. They are just holding it until police records are submitted. I remember that the day my fiancé called me after his interview to tell me about that, I got so nervous and frustrated thinking that he wouldn't obtain his visa, that I even had a small car accident. But listen: EVERYTHING WILL BE FINE. In our case, venezuelan Police certificate was obtained with no problem, then our family in Cuba obtained the cuban police record and sent it to us, but the issue was the Chinese Police record. No Chinese consulate would help us, he received a NO at Chinese consulate in Venzuela, they don't handle police records and the only option for us was going to China to get it!!!! Can you imagine?? But thanks God (He is only watching over us), my fiancé had a couple of wonderful friends that live in China and took care of that for us. They requested the document from the chinese police station, then got it translated and notarized, and scanned it and emailed it to us!!! I was in Venezuela visiting my fiancé and we had planned going to the US Consulate together if the chinese police record arrived on time, and it did!!!! So we took his 3 police records (Venezuela, Cuba and China) and went to the embassy. He got the visa right thereeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now my love is arriving in the US in a few days thanks God. So, DON'T WORRY. In your case, it seems like the 2 police certificates requested by US Consulate are easy to obtain. Once she takes them to the US Consulate, they will issue the visa right away. Thst's why they kept the passport.

hey guys I am in similar situation....my husband was given the 221g....requesting more information....since i was married before they want to get my exhusbands contact info, 30 guest contact info who are not my immediate relative, more pics after marriage, letters, emails, phone bills, and statment from me explaining why my first marriage ended.....is there anything i need to worry about if i am able to get all the info they requested??????. please help.........really really stressed and upset witht his news :( :(

Don't worry!

they asked me the same when i had my interview. i have studied and lived in Spain for a year and half, and i had to back to barcelona to pay for a police record (there was nothing on it of course...). they kept my visa at the ambassy and when i sent them the police record that was missing in my papers, they sent me back my passport with a brand new visa stamped and pretty quickly too!!! I just remember leaving the ambassy the first time and be like "oh! i forgot my passport!!" . but i realized they would keep it until they have all the papers to proces the visa.
