I hope someone can help me.

I was just screening job offers and this sentence caught my eye:

"Must be able to pass a 10-year Background/Criminal/DMV/Drug Screen."

Does anyone know if LPRs are able to get a 10 year background check done? I've only been here in the US for 3+ years now. It doesn't say you have to be a US citizen, and it's not a federal position.

I'm thankful for any comments and knowledge you can share with me.

Thanks.

I'm assuming they would carry out a check since you've been here? I could be wrong on that but it appears the most logical thing to do? Then again not all employers are logical! I'm also assuming that's part of the reason it's very hard (for some) at the start to get a first job over here as there isn't a history for the employer to check on. It'd explain why a lot of over qualified people are doing jobs they wouldn't be doing if they were back home.

It's very hard for a lot of immigrants to get jobs here. It was for my husband. It seemed NO ONE wanted to give him the opportunity to get some experience here in the States. Thank you UPS!!! Now he's working for one of our local State Parks here in Georgia and he's been there just over a year. :D

I'm wondering if submitting a copy of your police certificate from the country you came from would suffice to make up the difference in the 10 yr background check? Make sense? The three years you have here then whatever amount of time is listed on your police certificate from your home country. Just a thought...
