Update from early in this thread, sigh man:

I found the current whereabouts of the IV Section Chief at GYQ when we were all hosed there.

I wrote him a respectful letter of query on behalf of my contemporaries and me.

I assume that the Citizen Services people at his current locale forwarded it to him.

He didn't answer the first time.

He didn't answer the second send of 3 weeks thereafter.

This is unsurprising, because he has new things to do.

This is old to him yet fresh to us.

We should have complained at the time, or closer to it.

Presumably sharp immigration lawyers warned us of retribution if we'd complained then.

We found out not long ago that this was a complete straw dog.

We might never get answers.

So our K1 petition was approved in the states and we got our confirmation # from NVC and it is in transit to the Guayaquil consulate. We did the DS-160 form now and are compiling the docs to schedule the interview once the packet arrives.

Question - can my fiancé schedule and do the medical exam NOW or does she have to wait until the packet arrives and is "ready" in Guayquil? Any help appreciated!

I guess the number you received from NVC is something like GYQ######. You can go ahead and schedule the medical and do it.

To schedule for the interview you have to wait until you receive an email from the embassy in guayaquil telling you that they are ready to process with your k1 visa....

It takes about 5-7 business for the aplication to arrive at Guayaquil

Good Luck

Yup! That's the number! I just looked at the thread again and realized you already said we could get the medical exam done once we had that #. Sorry for the double ask! So exciting! Thank you!

Hi guys!

I have a question.. I already got the NVC case number 2 days ago, currently is still says "AT NVC". We made the doctor appointment for July 7. Can i schedule the interview or should i wait until it gets to GYQ?

Ifffff I remember correctly, I don't think you can schedule the interview until AFTER your case has been received at the consulate. I'm not 100% sure, though. We honestly made a LOT of phone calls to the consulate for answers like this! Immigration details always seem to change. Lol. You also need to make sure your interview is scheduled for AFTER the dr appt.

US CEAC website says our visa status is "READY" and says we can interview. I didn't receive an email though that our package arrived at GYQ but apparently it did.

We can schedule our interview at usvisa-info.com site now right?

Also anyone know if it's ok if I as the US petitioner make the account for my Ecuadorian fiancé and pay the fee for the interview, or will she have to do it? just wondered if them seeing a U.S. IP address on it would be bad? I just want to pay the interview fee and get it going.

I'm not 100% sure on the first question you ask, but I believe you can schedule the medical with your NVC number, but have to wait to schedule the interview until they send your beneficiary's Packet 3. You can email the consulate and confirm this, they are pretty good at responding their emails usually in 2-3 business days, that's my experience. As far as you creating the account from the US and paying for the DS-160 that's perfectly fine. I would image must people do it this way being we are the petitioners.

Nooooo!!! Do NOT wait for the packet. It's available online (see links in my signature). If you wait for the packet, you're going to be waiting a while. As I said before in this thread, a lot of beneficiaries don't get their packets until AFTER they're in the US! Lol. My husband didn't get his until after we were already married, hahaha. Plus, it's not something you have to "send in". It's just a packet that explains what you'll need for the interview and such. So it's not necessary to wait for this - Hence why it's online. Previously you needed to wait for it, but now you don't.

I would assume you could schedule your interview, but, again, I would call them. This forum is great for general advice, but when it comes to specific info on your case, I would really recommend you call the place that your case is at (ie: NVC, embassy, etc. Lol!) :) The embassy isn't always super helpful or friendly when you call (sigh, lol), but they can give you more specific info on your case. They probably knew my husband well after he called a million times during the process, hahaha!

Hope the rest of the process goes smoothly for you!

Oh- and yes! Of course petitioner can do that, since the case is both the beneficiary's AND the petitioner's. :) I handled all of the payments and whatnot.

Edit: Here's the quick link: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/110313-us-consulate-in-guayaquil-ecuador/page-24#entry7682963 There may be an updated online packet, but that was most recent at the time (April, 2015). you'll just need that DS160 confirmation number, if it's still the same as a year ago.

Hello SantyAndAllie, so glad you posted this information, is always good to get the juicy details lol from someone that has been through the process, and not from stuff you read here and there. Personally, I haven't dealt with the consulate over the phone yet, but my emails with general inquiries has always been responded prontly. I was surprised of this since I don't have my case number yet but they had always responded and clarified all my concerns. Once again, thanks for your time and willingness to help us following behind.

Wondering if someone can give me information about the Permiso de Salida from Ecuador for the K-2 beneficiary. My fiancee's daughter will not be traveling with her but do a follow to join 3 months later. My fiancee has sole custody of her daughter, Patria Potestad in hand, but since the child won't travel with the mom, a Permiso de Salida is needed from her mother. Does the Permiso de Salida needs to have listed the flight information, (ie flight number, date, airline, etc), in order to be valid? What does the Permiso needs to say? The problem is that we don't have any travel information for the daughter yet and will like to have the Permiso legalized and ready before the mom leaves for the US. Thanks.

WOOHOOO!!!

Yay!!! Congrats! you're almost there! Once you're together in the US, all the rest doesn't feel like such a big deal anymore. It's just bliss being able to be together again! :) I can't believe it's already almost been a year for us. It makes my heart so happy to hear about all of you guys being so close to the end because JUST this time last year we were at the end stages, and it was soo freaking difficult but then so awesome. We had so many delays (ugh) and June was the worst month ever, so we were so happy to be together again.

From experience, though, I wouldn't book until after you have the visa or if you need to book, book several weeks out FROM your interview date (I wish it only took a day or two, but it can take a lot longer). We were SO eager & had a veryyyy limited time to get married that we ended up canceling & rescheduling a total of THREE flights because of the delay in getting the visa. But we knew full well that might happen. We were just stubborn and pressed for time, LOL. You can never quite trust estimated time frames :(

PS - we're actually spending our one year anniversary of our civil ceremony (July 14th) in Ecuador. :) <3

Santy says he's pretty sure you DO need the flight info on the form, and the permission papers do need to be done before she leaves. So mom will have to wait until paperwork is done, because if it's not, her daughter can't leave. Also, it's pretty expensive to not have the mom go with her because she'll need to pay a flight attendant to be in charge of the daughter.

Honestly - If it's possible, they should travel together.

Santy is like 99% sure this is correct info because his brother had to do it to attend our wedding. However, he ended up traveling with his older brother, which counted as an adult who could be in charge of him.
