You either need a document notarized from his dad/mom saying that he/she is okay for the kid to leave the Ecuador... or a sole custody of the kid.....I am in the same boat....K1/K2 visa

Thanks for the response novatech. My fiancée has sole child custody. I guess the document required by Ecuador's Custom & Immigration is an original copy of the court declaration attesting so, correct? She still wants to get a notarized letter from the father authorizing the kid exiting the country so I told her that's OK too. I guess better safe than sorry.

Hey guys, just looking for some reassurance here I guess. I sent my fiance and I's I-129F k1 Visa packet in mid February, which was received Feb 19th, and I received a notice back w/the receipt starting in WAC so I know it went to California. The stats on here for people's packets going to California seem to move along much faster than ours unless I'm misunderstanding them. I live in Idaho so my service center is Nebraska so it naturally had to get transferred since they don't issue K1 Visas there.

It's now been 3 months and I haven't heard anything. I guess I thought it would've been finished on the U.S. side by now and sent off to Ecuador.
Any advice here? I've done the MY USCIS site and it just tells you what I said above. Can you call and talk to someone or is that not possible?

Once/if approved on the U.S. side, I then will get a notice, it gets mailed to the VIsa Processing Center, and then mailed to the Consulate in Ecuador right? Just making sure I'm correct on the process. Should that all be done in like 2 weeks timing or am I a wishful thinker here?

Then my fiance does her packet, doctors visit, ds-160 form online, and we schedule our interview. Missing anything?

Should I have my fiance download the packet and fill it out for the pre-interview stuff now so that when it comes we are moving quick? Sorry for all the questions.

K1 Visa Process:

2/18/16 - Mailed i129F K1 Visa Packet to Lockbox

2/19/16 - Received Packet

2/24/16 - NOA1

"It's now been 3 months and I haven't heard anything. I guess I thought it would've been finished on the U.S. side by now and sent off to Ecuador. Any advice here"?

Answer:Not much you can do here but wait. I'm also a little over 3 months waiting for NOA2 so I know the feeling. It will come; just hang tight.

"Can you call and talk to someone or is that not possible"?

Aswer: No. Currently is taking USCIS (California service center) 5 months to process and/or approve K-1 visas. They ask you to wait 5 months + 30 days before you can contact them and inquire about your case. At that point, you can seek assistance from your Congressman and/or hire an attorney.

"Once/if approved on the U.S. side, I then will get a notice, it gets mailed to the VIsa Processing Center, and then mailed to the Consulate in Ecuador right"?

Answer: That's correct.

"Should that all be done in like 2 weeks timing or am I a wishful thinker here"?

Answer: More like 2 months before your beneficiary gets an appointment and visa approved.

"Then my fiance does her packet, doctors visit, ds-160 form online, and we schedule our interview. Missing anything"?

Answer: You need to send your fiance your Affidavit of Support and prepare fresh evidence of ongoing, bona fide relationship to bring to the interview.

Should I have my fiance download the packet and fill it out for the pre-interview stuff now so that when it comes we are moving quick"?

Answer: No, you can't do that until your fiance receives packet 3 from the consulate. It will provide instructions of everything your fiance needs to do for the interview.

Thanks for the quick response, Mandy.

I'm pretty sure I read on this very same thread that you don't have to wait for them to mail you the packet to do the health stuff as it's downloadable in PDF off of the Consulate website and it can save you a month due to Ecuador's mail system. Someone had said they did that and they got their interview and visa approved before the packet even arrived haha! I thought they said you could start as soon as the consulate in Guayaquil receives your info. Looks like you're still in your early stages too, so maybe you will want to do the same thing. We're just trying to have our wedding in Sept, but of course obviously understanding that it's all dependent on the visa.

Hi there! Yes, I stand corrected, you can download the packet before your fiancée receives it in the mail in Ecuador. Sorry about the incorrect information, what I meant to say was that you'll need to wait the Guayaquil consulate receives the petition from NVC before downloading and working on Packet 3. I'm still waiting for NOA2 from USCIS, then NVC process and wait until it's sent to the consulate before my fiancée downloads packet 3, but definitely will do it as soon as the consulate receives the case from NVC, not a minute later. Regards, good luck to you!

Hey David.....My fiancee in Ecuador got her visa approved last friday......

It will take 3 weeks before you can get a case number from NVC and then another week or so to arrive to Guayaquil.

You can go ahead now and start getting the documents they requested on the packet so when you visa arrives to Ecuador you already have everything ready.

Once you get your NVC case number which start with GYQ######## in about 3 weeks......I will go ahead and make a medical exam appointment since they will need that number.

Once the visa is in Guayaquil you will receive an email saying that they are ready for it and the instructions in how to make an online appointment

Any question feel free to ask

Hey all! I just wanted to touch base with all the other Ecu filers. Hubby and I did the whole process back in '12 - '13 and we just got the notification today that his naturalization interview has been scheduled, which means we are ALMOST completely done with USCIS, forever! I remember how hopeless and awful we felt when trying to get his IR1 sorted out and wanted to leave a little note of encouragement for any of you that might be having a hard time right now. There IS a light at the end of the tunnel! Try to keep your spirits high and good luck to everybody. :luv:

That's so great Novatech!!! Congratulations! How do you contact NVC to get the Case # before it arrives in Guayaquil? My fiance and I are compiling the documents and making sure we'll be free to interview here in a few weeks. When you schedule the interview and the medical exam, were the dates open for you guys pretty close to when you looked or is it booked a ways out?

The definitive study guide is here:

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
