Be forewarned that the Ecua drs may not give them. They wouldn't give them to us, as they're needed for AOS and not the k1. Even though we explained that we could still get them in Ecuador, they said there's no point because you should still get checked up in the states for AOS. I'd recommend it regardless.

While we had a good experience there, I would say that this is still a "tough" consulate - I (Mark) went there because I was able to. We seldom saw the CO smile until he started talking to us.

So Jane got her passport yesterday, exactly two weeks after the interview. For reference, it took exactly a week for the CEAC status to change to "Issued", and 6 days (including a weekend, so 4 business days) to get a waybill number.

It seems the visas are actually printed in Quito, which might explain why embassy pickup is not an option. Our DHL waybill showed the shipment coming from Quito.

We did call DHL on Thursday after the tracking status said it was ready, and they told us to come on Friday - however we decided to take a trip to Policentro/San Marino anyway, and they had it already. The Policentro DHL is tiny btw, we were expecting something much bigger.

The magic packet is fairly thick, and we didn't get any magic letter (we were reading about how some shipments come with a letter, but ours only came with the passport and a brown envelope that was sealed with GYQ's stamp)

September 1 was the 7-year anniversary of when Mrs. T-B.-to-be finally got her infernal visa in hand. I didn't ask where it came from; the chief concern was that it wasn't a cruel hoax of some sort. It has gladdened my heart to hear about every subsequent visa that has been pried from Guayaquil.

Hello a question... with how many days before the interview I can or I do I review medical...?

You can't do a medical before you have an interview date. Once you have an interview date, you will call the doctor and they will make an appointment two weeks before the interview. We were also wondering and thinking that it made more sense to schedule the medical before the interview (in order to make sure the medical was "available" before doing the interview), but when we called the doctor they told us that they can't give us a medical if we don't have an appointment.

I wanted to throw this out there for anyone in the future looking for experience with expedited AP...

Santy's mom unfortunately just passed away last Sunday (2 weeks before our US wedding! ), and we had to get an emergency AP to allow us to travel back to Ecuador. Made an info pass appt at the local office first thing Monday morning, brought all the documents needed, and they printed permission letters and documents the same day. The actual AP document comes in the mail later on, but the documents they gave us allow us to travel before then. So Santy and I took a flight the next day and are returning on Monday.

So for anyone that gets stuck in the same terrible situation, know that immigration is definitely more sympathetic to deaths in the family. They were incredibly helpful and apologetic to Santy, and they were also very happy at how organized and prepared he was. He saw people with appointments who didn't even bring their identifications. Seriously? Whenever making an appointment for ANYTHING, don't forget to bring all supporting documents (and IDs!) with you. They'll appreciate you for it

because we fill the form DS 160,, we made the appointment for the interview but I embjada has not called me or sent the package I'm carrying so ask in the current package 4 August 2015 you put on this site ............. is that correct ?? They do not ask for anything more ??
