Yep it does suck. We are on oppisite sides of the world with 19 hrs difference. My night is hubby's day :(

That would be 5 hours in the other direction then. Right? I understand the international dateline. I have crossed it many times.

If it were 24 hours different it would be the same time just a different day.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Mark and I were very fortunate when we had our 7 hour time difference. When we first met I was still at University. So I was able to fit my hours in around his. Sleeping as soon as I got home and waking up in the middle of the night. I did a similar kind of dance when I got a job. Sleeping for a while when I got home, waking to talk, then off to work. The problems for us came when I had a job at an airport which required me to work a changing shift schedule. Fortunately we were both understanding about how much more tired I would get from this job (my shift change would be going from a 2pm-10.30pm shift to going back in the next morning for a 5.50am-2.30pm shift). But we almost always made time to talk. Even if it was only for an hour or two.

Having said that, we're very glad that the time difference is over and send out good vibes to those waiting for visas that you will have a speedy process and be with your loved one soon. :)

I think that the sheer frustration of being apart sets the stage for arguing. My husband and I have already been separated once, and we're about to be separated again when I go to the US to start my new job. We used to argue all the time when I was working in China and he had to return to London. We were perpetually on Skype and MSN...usually from the second I got home from work until about 2am, causing me to be soooooo tired and irritable! Plus, the dodgy connections and time delay that you sometimes encounter on Skype made us even more annoyed. (We used to call our arguments "SkypeGate!") We'd end up arguing just because we wanted to have a face to face conversation for once!

I'm seriously dreading my upcoming move...the time differences, "what did you do today" convos, lack of cuddling (etc... :hehe: ), short weekend visits, saying goodbye all over again... :crying:

Anyway, just remember when the fighting starts that it's just down to loving and missing each other. And lemme tell ya...we all must REALLY be in love to deal with all these whacked-out immigration procedures!

Grrrr...it is so unfair to not be with the person you love just because you are from different countries...... At least it's really comforting to read everyone else's experience on this forum! Everyone here is great and I wish you all the best to be reunited with your SO sooner vs. later. :)

we were lucky that we didn't have a time difference but we might as well have had one :P... for most of our long distance relationship hubby worked graveyard and I worked days.... so he would sleep all day and we would usually talk before he went to work for a few minutes and sometimes in the morning......
