I would like to know about the medical exams, should i wait til i receive the NOA2 or should i do that now?

I dont have health care and it's gonna be very expensive for us (we're not rich) lol, so I'm gonna have to pay for all exams and all the shots plus the doctor's appointment.

I want us to do asap everything we can do so i can get all ready for the K1 interview, will I have time to do such after the NOA2, do they tell me when to do it or should i start now? :help:

After your NOA2, you still have to wait for packet 3, which could also take a while, I wouldn´t get the medical done too soon ´cus it expires, you can try checking the vaccines you still need and start getting those.

Remember, most Postos de Saúde in Brasil will have free shots for most of the needed vaccines, like hepatite B.

First, thank you all for the advice. I'll wait.

That's a great tip, I wasn't even gonna check in the Postos de Saúde, sometimes i forget they even exist. I know i have to take like 20 different shots, i'll look for those in the Postos de Saúde in Curitiba, altho i'm afraid they won't be worthy? I don't know how you prove you took the shot, doesn't the doctor the consulate indicates have to do that and prove you took the shot? How does that work?

Well, if you lost your vaccination card or never had one, at a Posto de Saúde they´ll most likely provide you one, and that´s enough proof that you took the required vaccines. Keep in mind that some vaccines need to be redone after a few months, not sure what´s your case and which vaccines you´re missing.

But I think you should indeed have your vaccination card from when you were a kid.

Naw my mom said i took all the vaccines, she's sure of that, but she moved a lot and she doesn't keep trash, so she threw away my vaccination card. So i'm gonna have to take them all over again. Good thing i'm not agraid of needles :P

I called one of the doctors in the list of Rio de Janeiro Consulate and his secretary told me the required vaccines are (in portuguese):

- SCR (Sarampo, Caxumba e Rubéola)

- TD (Tétano e Difteria)

So, only two shots and the first one, most of us have already taken when were kid...

hmm i don't think it's only that. You should double check that.

Btw any brazilians know what's the doctor's cost? I think i read somewhere it can't exceed US$ 100.00 is that right?

Yes, dear... These vaccines are the obligatory ones for those that live in São Paulo state (I guess it changes for those who live in Amazonas)! At least, it is what his secretary told me and she works with him since a long time ago. One of my friends that already got the K-1 visa had her medical with him... The doctors can charge up to $ 100 for the appointment, and this one I called charges R$ 200...

Anyway, it doesn't hurt to double check... But this is the information I have so far!

Hugs!
