It looks as though the 3 month old writers' strike may be resolved today, pending final approval from the WGA ! What American films or TV shows do you enjoy together? My hababi likes the Simpsons (or yellow people as he refers to them!) Also anything with action or karate!

We love you writers! We won't take you for granted any longer, now get back to work!!:dance:

Reading an article that stated many shows wont have new episodes until the fall and some not until early 2009!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

YES, JENN! Since many of you have posted that your SO early assumptions of America were perceived thru the rose-colored lense of Hollywood, I was curious as to what those shows or films were! I was explaining to my hababi how much I missed the sense of family that I experienced when I was with him, enjoying meals with the relatives and talking and laughing for hours until the meal finally ended with sweets and that awesome mint tea! He replied with, "Oh on TV all the Americans eat as a family!" This is just one example of how our culture is misrepresented on TV, but if that is their only exposure to American life, it's easy to see how those conclusions could be drawn. :o

YES!

Now I can stop hearing about writers on the news! :D

Finally!

( ... House. Nuff said. The FIRST US-MADE TV Show I've watched ... in 10 years. )

The moral of my story: Stick with someone who matches your own culture.

( This coming from an Arab who married an Arab from overseas... go figure. )
