I don't understand it either and I'm one of them. I like catsup, tomato based sauces, etc., But can't stand a plain old tomato.

I always find it weird when people say they don't like tomatoes

I like cooked tomatos, but raw tomatoes are way too slimy for my taste. Also, mushrooms are an immediate gag reflex for me. It doesn't make for easy psychadelics.

All you need is a modest house in a modest neighborhood

In a modest town where honest people dwell

Overeating is only half of the equation - there is also the American car culture which makes it difficult to work physical activity into your day. Other countries are built around people, not cars, and generally people are thinner. Also, if you are carrying everything by hand from the store there isn't the temptation to buy 2-liter bottles of Coke, jumbo bags of cookies, etc. You ever notice how as people have gotten fatter, so have their cars(SUVs) and the carts/trolleys at the stores? I remember growing up and the carts were much smaller, with the super-size era they are now huge.

it's sad that the foods that are healthy are the ones a lot of people can't afford

That's not really true, but it's a good excuse if someone needs one. They're not fat because they're poor, they're fat because they're uneducated and don't know anything about nutrition.

I don't think that every single person that is fat is fat only because they're undereducated. I think a large majority of people are BUT you have to factor in the people who actually have a disease or some sort of illness that keeps them from moving.

Ya, most of them DO have a disease that keep them from moving, they're stuck to the sofa with the TV remote in one hand and a bag of chips in the other!

LOL Gary, I didn't know you were bringing your judgy hat to this thread. :) But I guess if someone who died gets judged as amoral by you on the same day they die, fat people aren't going to get off the hook either.

Just keep in mind when talking about this in a public forum that the people in it may be representative of the chart: about a quarter to a third are obese.

Just saying.

Hey, fat is fat. I was fat once too, actually obese at 40 lbs over. People can make all the excuse they want, but they're only fooling themselves.

this is a very good point! I know when I lived in England I would never buy anything big because I didn't want to have to carry it home. the carts did seem quite a bit smaller too now that I think about it.

I thought that 100lbs over was considered obese. I wasn't aware that 40lbs overweight was considered obese

If I had a euro for every 1 liter bottle of Pepsi Max I dragged about .5 a km home every other day. LOL. Having to slug it home didn't change my diet. Probably kept my fat in line though. Here I have no chance to do anything like that. The nearest store is a mile away in any direction. No sidewalks for about 80% of the journey and people in Indianapolis hate bikers and pedestrians more than in other places. No thanks. Indianapolis only has itself to blame for being fat. This city doesn't do much to encourage otherwise. Sprallkingdom.

Ha, I saw that and it would be money better spent making this place more accessible. But I guess we need a new stadium and token measures, not sidewalks, bike lines, better zoning, and public transport.
