This is so strange to watch. You can see here obesity changes over time all over the country, and you can see that it's really an epidemic without question. Jayzuz.

I'm not sure. I don't remember clicking on it but I just noticed there was an open tab on my browser window from cnn and there it was. My guess is probably.

I guess I just didn't realize how fast it had happened. I didn't know it was just the last 20 years more or less.

The red states seem random?

Several cities in Texas had the fattest people several years in a row & yet they are not red?

Aren't they our poorest states?

Well, Appalachia is pretty poor & KY has some v. poor people.

Dunno, I think more states should be red.

it's sad that the foods that are healthy are the ones a lot of people can't afford

Rey had a shocked moment about that the other day. We were at the grocery store and I'd grabbed one of those readymade salad bags and it was like 5 bucks. Then he saw a huge, huge box of cookies for 2.25. He was like "this is why there is a problem!"

That's a myth.

They are not always easy though, and that is the problem.

I think that convenience is a factor for a lot of people too. I think that if you have room everyone should have a garden and grow a small amount of their own food too. It's fun and tastes so much better.

That's not really true, but it's a good excuse if someone needs one. They're not fat because they're poor, they're fat because they're uneducated and don't know anything about nutrition.

I don't think it's a myth. A box of strawberries that says it's a pound is about 140 calories if you measure it w/o stems. It costs 8 dollars here. To spend 8 dollars on Oreos you could eat about 6,000 calories, I'm guessing.

Yes, I agree.

When you compare processed, prepackaged unhealthy foods to prepared healthy foods, yes I could see a price difference. But if you're buying fresh produce etc., cooking healthy at home is just as inexpensive as cooking unhealthy. It's the convenience factor.

 Yeah preparing healthy food isn't much different from preparing unhealthy food. Oil, fatty meats, and other things that tend to add calories at home don't cost that much or much less than their healthy counterparts. But you have to pay more for stuff that comes prepackaged. But I still think produce is really expensive. If you're eating fruits and vegetables you're spending money.
