Hi Everyone,

After my husband and I were married, he went to the SS office and applied for his card. They asked for his passport. He showed it to them and they did the rest. He recieved his SSN within 2 weeks. He is now working here in the states. The company did ask about work permit and our immigrations attorney sent a letter to the company:

Canadian citizen was legally admitted to the United States as a K-1 Fiance. Such individuals are authorized to work unthe the authority of 8 Code of regulations section 274a.12(6). So I am hoping this is correct. I don't need that kind of worry now. The company did except that from him.

Whether he can work on the K-1 status without an EAD card is open to debate, but the K-1 status is only good for 90 days, so at that point I think there is no debate that he must have an EAD card to continue working.
