Marriage Registration in US?

So, now that we are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel (yay! our interview is next month in Rio!) there's other questions that are filling my head instead of just "which papers to fill out for immigration"

This came up as a curiosity--we got married here in Brazil and we are applying for a CR-1 visa, which means that I'm able to sponsor my husband under an "immediate relative" category. Well, once we enter the U.S. do I have to register our marriage somewhere? The State?

Also, I didn't change my name at the time of marriage because I didn't want to deal with changing my passport or my SSN until I got back to the U.S.--so, what do I do to be able to change my name to my husband's name?

I'm sure there will be more strange questions that I come up with as time goes on...
