We are planning a trip later this year and we are intending to fly to Liberia via Ghana. The cheapest tickets I have found are on NAA for a little over $1,000 RT. That seems so cheap to me. Has anyone flown with them and what was your experience like? Are they really that cheap? Thanks in advance!

I usually fly with NAA to Ghana. I haven't had any issue with them. My husband's cousin had trouble with payment for his ticket. And it was a huge hassle for him. But I haven't had any problems personally. The flights were always full and left pretty close to on time from JFK and on time from Accra. The food was airplane food, nothing spectacular. They show three movies back to back. Not bad choices. It was okay. Unfortunately, they don't stop anyone from carrying overages on their luggage. They charge you and seem to accept as many bags as you choose to bring. Obviously the plane can't carry all those bags, so they end up shipping them, usually on Delta cause they fly later in the week and NAA has a limited schedule. But I got it through FedEx and I wasn't bothered by that either.

When Delta started direct flights to Ghana last year, they lowered their fares to compete.

Thanks for your opinion. I actually think the lack fo charges for too many bags will be good for us since we intend to bring several. Then again, we will only be in Ghana for a few hours before flying to Liberia, so I don't know how it will work out if my bags are shipped later. I flew with Delta when I went to Ghana last time, but I can't seem to find cheap enough flights with Delta. I will keep testing dates and times to see if I can find a price that matches NAA. Thanks again.

I flew NAA for the first time last July and I loved it! One plane, no stops, and 10 hours is heaven compared to all the layovers and stuff.

NAA is chaper than Delta though. For the same dates I always found Delta to be $400 or so more expensive. Not sure about the entertainment aspect because I tend to just do my Sudoku or listen to my iPod. The food is nothing to write home about. They are pretty strict with the baggage limit (which is nice) but I never went over so cannot speak to that.

No, they charge you for having too many bags, but they don't stop you from bring as many bags as you want. In other words, one passenger could pay the fee and bring 6 big bags. The airplane can only hold a certain amount. So you know that if they don't change that policy, there are always going to be people who don't get their bags when they land.

Got it, I understand what you are saying now. I just looked for the same dates and Delta was $675 more. Ugh. So far, it looks like NAA. I'm glad it's a pretty standard flight.

If I ever get my interview date, I'll probably be looking for flights as well. I really want to go now....but I'm holding on because I won't be able to go twice and Bassi wants me to be there for the interview. And when I said to him, maybe I'll just come now, I don't want to wait. He actually said Baby, I really want you at the interview and if we can't do both, I prefer the interview. Wow!! Were we talking about communication issues? Well, this is leaps and bounds. I usually figure out what he's thinking by behavior and mannerisms, I don't often get plain old words. :luv:

By accident I flew them to Jamaica last June. (Once again Air Jamaica's scheduled plane was down with electrical problems)

The plane was very nice, seats were comfy enough and the flight crew were very professional!

I would say go for it!! Nothing ventured, nothing gained!

I took NAA last time going to Nigeria. The baby had to sit on my lap (infants don't get their own seats) and when it was time to eat I couldn't squeeze me and the sleeping baby behind that tiny tray and the stewardess saw me struggling so she came over to me and took the baby for me while I ate. I could see them. She was in the little stewardess area (where they make the food) sitting on a seat rocking the baby and singing to him hahaha. He was so cozy with her. It was a nice flight. My only issue with it was the food on the way home made me sick... not food poisoning but I was sick as a dog all day. Getting to and from NY was a pain in the butt too.

I am flying from Seattle to Lagos. I can take Delta (Air France) through Paris or Delta through Atlanta and get there with only one reasonable stop. I actually prefer the Delta flights over the Air France, but the Air France is okay. My first flight I flew from Seattle to JFK on Delta and then had to switch airlines to fly on South African Airlines. The South African Airlines flight was cancelled for no reason and I was out of luck.

After this experience I always looked at the fare of flying on one airline to JFK and switching to and flying NAA to Lagos vs. the one stop (Paris or Atlanta) on the same airline. I may have paid a little more, but the convenience of a 14 hour total flight with the one airline method vs 16-24 hours by going thru JFK and having to change airlines at JFK was well worth the additional fees.

On the other hand, my husband flew to JFK on NAA and switched at JFK and managed just fine. He had no problem with NAA. We have flown on Alaskan, Delta, and American since he arrived and he does say he prefers all of these airlines over the NAA.

SO, in my long winded way, I am suggesting the connection issue might be the determining factor of which way to go.....Have fun and good to see you back!

$1000 does sound cheap. I'm searching for flights for my husband to the US and so far I'm looking at $1900. I checked into NAA and I can't find a schedule past the end of May. Does anyone know if they will continue to serve Accra after May?
