I was looking for a good laundry detergent for white clothes. The problem is, I never do a load of only whites, usually also some light grey, beige, light khaki, anyway, I'm afraid of buying anything with bleach because of that.

So share your favorite laundry detergent.

please note that this thread is NOT related in any way to the one poll i just posted

Tide for sure, but I also usually throw in a scoop of that OxyClean powder. Its a great stain remover and general freshener, and these days with an infant AND an adolescent boy in the house I need all the laundry boosts I can get... !

I don't have an adolescent boy in the house, but I have a man that acts like one. So I think I'll be trying the Tide bleach alternative for my whites.

I use Tide Pure Essentials. It has baking soda to keep your whites white. Don't buy anything that has colour in the liquid (usually blue) because that colour gets absorbed by the fabric and eventually turns your whites a grey colour.

great idea with baking soda. and thanks for the advice, the purple tide I buy I've noticed it ain't that good with whites, so I prefer to only use on my darks.

2xUltra Tide with Febreeze. Specially designed for energy efficient front loaders - you use such a small amount it's incredible.

That stuff is terrible for the enviroment Mags. Im gonna start putting gravel in the washer. :P

One little bottle lasts me almost 4 months, compared to a larger bottle of another brand lasting me one month (I do a lot of washing). My washer is energy efficient (water and electricity) and all my other cleaning solutions are Green Works. I think I'm gonna stick with my Tide stuff. :D

I was using the purple Tide, too, but I was not happy with it either. I tried other kinds but found the Pure Essentials to be the best.

I was part of a target group that tested that particular line of Tide at home and filled out a survey afterwards --- I found it didn't do well in taking out stains. Smelled great though! :)
