I think maybe we should leave the approvals on the list, it gives us an idea of the processing timeframe (and gives us hope ) . Just my opinion.

Just to add my thoughts on the delay at VSC:
When we filed our K1, VSC was the fastest and most efficient service center. So much so, that the others started dumping their cases on VSC. Stands to reason that probably overloaded them and lightened the load on the others. Makes sense to me that VSC would be slower as a result and the others have become quicker.

I think it is really unfair to make some of the judgments that have been made on how the VSC is run and the competence of their employees without actually having been there and knowing all the details.

Personally, I would be unhappy if it had taken a longer time to get our K1, meaning he would have to be apart from me while waiting. At least my husband is here with me legally. I am grateful that there is a process that has allowed my husband to be here, without fear of his being caught and deported. Yes, we are waiting a long time for the 10 year card, but it doesn't affect our day to day life. It makes no difference in his being able to go to work, play with our son, and where he sleeps at night.

Haven't been able to follow closely...anyone been approved at VSC since all those cases were transferred to CSC?

Have any VSC ---> CSC transferees been approved since going to CSC?

Just my opinion...

I agree that it's not a big deal to wait since you are here with your family, but I have some problems w/ the how VSC is handling the cases in terms of putting people >8 months behind us ahead of us. I am ok with CSC approving cases in 1-3 months, I don't live on that side of the country, so thats just too bad for me.

Problem 1. We all paid the same cost, we all did what we are told and I think having people way behind you (1-2 months behind I can deal with) seems a little unfair (being in the same VSCS line). I am just frustrated with the concept outside of this issue, so it bothers me here too i guess.

Problem 2. If your state is one of those that does not respect the NOA, and based your ID, driver's license etc on the date on your green card, you are screwed and have to not have your license etc for a yr. And I have seen people w/ that problem.

Problem 3. Not all jobs respect the NOA either, I am currently looking for another job and I worry when i finally get it, they won't accept my NOA as proof of legal residence. reason, my current job (a large institution that handles may different immigrant and non-immigrant situations) made a big deal over my green card expiring and almost did not accept the NOA. I had to explain it to them and then they had to go off and do research (which they did not have to to), i almost thought for a while I would be asked to leave.

So again I don't mind waiting, I get to be w/ a person I love, for now I can work and can freely travel to my home country in the mean time, but on 3 levels i thinks it's alittle unfair. So I am happy for those who got approved, but the longer I wait and others around me got approved, I worry.

I wasn't chastising you or saying you were wrong.

I was just saying that the 'speed' with which Vermont processes the K1 has no relationship to their efficiency otherwise. When the Service Centers were reduced from four to two (thereby increasing the VSC caseload), they did not become 'more' inefficient. They just continued the inefficiency............

You're right that are spouses are with us. If you haven't had your daily life affected by any petition filings since you and your husband reunited permanently though - well you are lucky. Work privileges, driving privileges and travel privileges hang in the balance for many while they await a decision on a case. Delays on the part of the Service sometimes do cause hardship for immigrants and their families.

I knew when we filed that Vermont was slower (as they had always been) and that his petition would end up in a box somewhere in a long line. I watch this forum mostly for the good news of others.

No lecture here for you and my apologies if that's where you thought I was coming from. We were one of the families affected by Service delays in the past through no fault of our own. I'm just more than beyond tired in complying with their requirements and sending them our money. In an era of American history where being an immigrant in itself can be an eye-raising proposition, I'd just like for my government to get off its behind and give my husband the documentation he has earned by virtue of compliance with its rules.

Just to add my thoughts on the delay at VSC:
When we filed our K1, VSC was the fastest and most efficient service center. So much so, that the others started dumping their cases on VSC. Stands to reason that probably overloaded them and lightened the load on the others. Makes sense to me that VSC would be slower as a result and the others have become quicker.

I think it is really unfair to make some of the judgments that have been made on how the VSC is run and the competence of their employees without actually having been there and knowing all the details.

Personally, I would be unhappy if it had taken a longer time to get our K1, meaning he would have to be apart from me while waiting. At least my husband is here with me legally. I am grateful that there is a process that has allowed my husband to be here, without fear of his being caught and deported. Yes, we are waiting a long time for the 10 year card, but it doesn't affect our day to day life. It makes no difference in his being able to go to work, play with our son, and where he sleeps at night.

Even back when you and I were processing, Vermont was slow about everything except the K1.

Please note that this is just my opinion, which is why I added the "Just to add my thoughts on the delay at VSC". I am not offering anyone legal advice or trying to steer them in the wrong direction. And, I am certainly not telling anyone else they have to feel the same.

I did not pay attention to how quickly any of the service centers were processing anything other than the K1 while I was waiting for our K1. I am not currently paying any attention to how quickly the service centers are processing anything other than the I-751. I have no reason to. Other things in my life require my attention. Neither of those things would change the point of my previous post. I still feel the same. Waiting for the piece of paper that says my husband has been approved for the 10 year card does not really affect our daily life. At least while waiting for the I-751, our spouses are able to be with us instead of being separated.

I was just saying that the 'speed' with which Vermont processes the K1 has no relationship to their efficiency otherwise. When the Service Centers were reduced from four to two (thereby increasing the VSC caseload), they did not become 'more' inefficient. They just continued the inefficiency............

You're right that are spouses are with us. If you haven't had your daily life affected by any petition filings since you and your husband reunited permanently though - well you are lucky. Work privileges, driving privileges and travel privileges hang in the balance for many while they await a decision on a case. Delays on the part of the Service sometimes do cause hardship for immigrants and their families.

much better said than what i said. i also apologize, if i am coming off any way, it's just that other things are up in the air while you wait. I don't mind waiting as long as it seems fairly so.
