Congrats Shari! I know they were touching your case so much I was worried we'd see RFE or interview next from you. Good to know they were just working it. We've only had one touch though so I guess we have a while longer to wait. All's good though as long as they're moving.

Okfir, thanks for your concern, but unfortunately I don't think a congressperson can do much about the hiring freezes happening all over the country right now. We're just happy he still has a job. Unfortunately the economy is going to take a lot more than one congressperson intervening to get fixed.

After such a long wait, you deserve it! It's good to know that the VSC is doing something, even if it takes a long time. Too bad though, you couldn't get a refund for the I-751, as you only have the 10yr card for a short time now.

Oh well, onto the next stage of citizenship for you!

Congrats Shari! I know they were touching your case so much I was worried we'd see RFE or interview next from you. Good to know they were just working it. We've only had one touch though so I guess we have a while longer to wait. All's good though as long as they're moving.

Okfir, thanks for your concern, but unfortunately I don't think a congressperson can do much about the hiring freezes happening all over the country right now. We're just happy he still has a job. Unfortunately the economy is going to take a lot more than one congressperson intervening to get fixed.

So i spoke with my lawyer. She told me to set up an appointment for "Info Pass" (she will come with me but it's not a must, you can go by your self), when you go for an Info Pass you can get more info on your case then the on line service.

Just got to http://infopass.uscis.gov/

when you get to the " Please select Kind of Service you need " page choose the " You need information or other services " option. then look for an open date(if you cant see any dates, click the arrow on the top right)

ill know more next friday

We got an email yesterday (2/27/09) informing us that they have moved our case to the CSC. Progress, I suppose. :)

Just to add my thoughts on the delay at VSC:

When we filed our K1, VSC was the fastest and most efficient service center. So much so, that the others started dumping their cases on VSC. Stands to reason that probably overloaded them and lightened the load on the others. Makes sense to me that VSC would be slower as a result and the others have become quicker.

I think it is really unfair to make some of the judgments that have been made on how the VSC is run and the competence of their employees without actually having been there and knowing all the details.

Personally, I would be unhappy if it had taken a longer time to get our K1, meaning he would have to be apart from me while waiting. At least my husband is here with me legally. I am grateful that there is a process that has allowed my husband to be here, without fear of his being caught and deported. Yes, we are waiting a long time for the 10 year card, but it doesn't affect our day to day life. It makes no difference in his being able to go to work, play with our son, and where he sleeps at night.
