Yes! Exactly. I was on this forum 24/7 (or it felt like it) while I filed, and now...'slump' is correct. I'm literally slumped in my chair just watching the hours and days go by. I need something to keep me busy!

Well, I work long hours but I can't wait to hand my notice in, hop on a plane and go get married!!!

I don't think other people understand how hard it is to be apart from the one you love.

How often do you speak to your fiance?

Usually every day; if not, we at least try to e-mail each other. I can get on AIM at work and we use skype/google chat in the evenings. I'll soon have a webcam, too!

Don't always have much to talk about but I usually have enough to at least write a small e-mail, and there's always the option of playing games online together, or sharing links.

I have two friends in 'long-distance' (i.e. 2-3 hours away) relationships who 'only' get to see their other halves 3-4 times a month - and to hear them complain and not offer any sympathy is frustrating to say the least! (That's why these forums are fantastic!)

How about you?

I'm usually his wake up call in a morning, I call him on my lunch break and he's just waking up....Then he calls me when he gets home from work at night, and i'm usually asleep on the couch waiting for his call. He'll wake me, we'll chat and then i'll go to bed. My sleep is broken every night and its exhausting...but he's worth it.

We do send the occasional email, but it's rare since we chat on the phone every single day....and web chats are non existant these days. I can't access AIM or anythig from work, my bosses would fire me in a second!

I can't wait till I fly over there again on the 29th. When was the last time you guys were together?

Hey there! We filed in January too.

We talk everday about 3-5 hours at night (I have an unlimited UK calling plan). And as you can imagine, the only people who don't find that excessive are others in the same boat. But believe me, we are beyond grateful to be able to talk on the phone daily now. For a long time it was only YIM and e-mails, and could never go back to that now!

Sometimes it's hard dealing with people who dond't understand the sacrifices made for long-distance relationships. I have 19-year-old co-worker who whines daily about only getting to see her boyfriend Friday nights. She complains for hours about it! But that doesn't compare to what happened when my request for time off at Christmas was approved over hers. I asked only for the days he was arriving and departing at the airport. She wanted one of those days off because it was her sister's (not her own) 17th birthday, and she wanted to take her shopping at the mall for her present. Humpf.

Well, we have only been able to see each other every 4-1/2 months or so because of work and money and all, so you'd think we'd be used to all this waiting by now. Actually, he is coming here again in April for two weeks, which is only 74 days away (yay!). The time after that it will be for good. I don't know if having the end in sight makes the waiting harder or easier. With any luck he will be here sometime in August, but I know better than to plan on that. It will just be nice to be done with countdowns, and to be on the same continent everyday. :)

Filed in January...Not in the UK, but SO is...

We only see each other about every 4 months as well; I envy people who can see each other more often, but I treasure every minute I get to be with him, whether it is in person, on the phone, or on the webcam. Yesterday was the first day we didn't speak for more than an hour in months (I had to work late from my day job; he had to call me for a few minutes before my night job...but I go his Valentine's Day card, so it was a great day regardless)...

I'm visiting him at the end of March, and I'm so excited (I've never been overseas)!!! But the highlight will be being with him again...the wait seems interminable, but since we're in the system, there will be an end in sight!!!

Wake up calls are awesome :D

My sleep used to be broken up too...that's one of the worst part of being in completely different timezones! Fortunately Alex works evening shifts now so he goes to work just as I go to bed - perfect. But I stayed up for him most of last year, and yes, it was definitely worth it!

Hearing a person's voice helps a lot, too.

I was last with Alex at the beginning of January, but we won't see each other until I have my visa is in hand, so 9-11 months or so.

3 - 5 hours every night? omg - what do you find to talk about? Toby and I usually talk for an hour in an evening and that's long enough for us to talk about what's happened during the day. We do talk for longer on weekends, but since it's usually 1am when he calls me, and I have to get up for work at 6am, it's difficult to talk for much longer.

I went over to stay with him over Xmas (for a week) and i'm going for 10 days on 29th Feb. Then he's coming to stay with me in May. By the time the end May comes around i'm hoping for my NOA2 - I mean they're moving quite fast at the moment and that is 4 months. With a bit of luck, my next trip over there will be late July early August, and it'll be the once where I have the Visa in my hand!

I get frustrated with people who b*tch about not seeing their partners often enough too. I work with a girl who complains if her fella doesn't text her 10 times a day!!

Hi all,

Another recent UK filer here. Sometimes it seems really depressing knowing that it will take until the Autumn (hopefully!) until we can start our new lives, but I also just feel relieved that at least the whole thing has started.

Not sure if this is the right place to ask this, and it is quite a way off, but does anybody know how long the London embassy take once it is handed over to them?

Roll on the NOA2!!!

David

february filer here! it's exciting and draining to be in the system...we were together over xmas from dec 18-jan 10...and i don't think we'll see each other again until he's here for good...we basically just use aim...we don't even get to talk to each other much...we both have isights on our macs but for some reason they don't tend to connect all the time so that is hit and miss...we used to skype but till i get home he's getting ready for bed and can't make alot of noise...we email each other daily...i send him one before bed...and he replies when he gets up and i reply to that when i get up..and i can't be without my cell, i can txt him thru aim on there...so we can basically always be in contact...it's truly hard to be apart..but next time he comes we'll never have to say goodbye again! :)

we've had quite a few touches lately..i know it's too early i just wish i knew why...
